Why Beyonce's album has such an increase?

Not sure why (and its sales are currently 33% more this week than last) but it's still selling half of Gargoye's total at 3. I Am... is £6.99 at HMV so that may be driving it (have the supermarkets discounted it?). She's also had three stellar top 10 singles from the album in seemingly short time.

Its not really a huge shock. The song is fantastic, but too many people have the album now really, The Loving Kind was their least successful and lowest charting single, after a massive number 1. But also its much more difficult to get a third single into the top 10 now, even artists with massive first and second singles still havent managed it, like Kings Of Leon and Katy Perry. I really hope it does though, even at #10.

Alesha Dixon (LGS)

 Love this, one of my favourite songs off the album.

Thanks for the info

Are they far behind number 9 and 8 too? I think Tiny Dancer is climbing massively on itunes so if they make the top ten it will be ahead of the current 8 or 9 instead.

From what I have read last week, this version thats been charting is the album version and a remix will be released soon. If the remix is out this week then looks like they could miss, if its out next week then its guaranteed top 10.

Some one tell me the good news and say tha remix is out this week!

Thanks, they are still at 11 in today's mids. Miley Cyrus is top 15 too but I would have thought she may also make the top ten/ overtake GA.

Also, the radio remix is available on itunes this week as well as the album version.

Er, it may have been their lowest-peaking, but it wasn't their least successful - by far.

SO interesting about Beyonce's latest album. In a lot of European markets, including Ireland, and in Australia and New Zealand, the album didn't hit its peak position on the album charts until a couple-of-months after its release so it's not just a UK phenomenon. Not sure what's up with that. A fuck-up with initial promotion? I always thought her name was big enough to shift any old shit but perhaps she still hasn't established herself as a bankable substantial first week sales type of artiste outside America. I can't really think of any reason why the album has hit a new peak of #3. Halo's been out a while now and that Piccadilly Circus rehash of Single Ladies didn't even make a small imprint in the British press so I doubt the album spiked because of that; I heard about it on this forum and the novelty wore off after a minute-in. Though I still maintain that it's the most ICONIC video by any pop artist in at least five years.

RE Girls Aloud: Shame Untouchable is destined to be the Miles Away of GA's astonishing, and well deserved, chart run. Perhaps it will scrape the Top 10 but really they shouldn't be releasing any more than two singles per album from now on anyway. If it does rebound, the press might spin it to look like a bona fide "flop" but in all truth it really isn't. They're still the country's most popular girl band and with Lady Di keeping the band's name in the papers post-X Factor, I'm sure their next album will do just as well.

Yes, odd re Beyonce in the UK. Her profile seems to be huge but album sales don't come easily to her. This album, unlike BDay, has longevity because of the strong singles, and is going to finish up much closer to her successful debut.

GA - don't mind them but it is about time their run comes to an end. They can't complain because their album has done very well and they are higher profile now than ever in the previous 6 years. The problem for them is that as a whole they are appealing but only 2 of them have solo star quality - Nadine and the Thug Wag. Hopefully Westlife's top ten run is next to go although they have stopped releasing multiple singles now.

The download aspect of the chart is going to make it almost impossible for any act to ever beat or match Madonna's amazing top ten streak, unless a new format is introduced in the future.

Sales as of Friday:

1 Bob Dylan 32.6k

2 The Enemy 25.8k

3 Lady GaGa 18.4k

4 Beyonce 14.0k

5 Pink 11.1k

Not exactly impressive any of them. By the way, U2 didn't even break 300k yet, their album is somewhere in the 30s and if I'm not wrong, their next single is a 7" release only. Puts Hard Candy sales into perspective a bit...

Britney's album is breaking 300k this week though. "If You Seek Amy" is out on physical next week, but currently Top 30 only...

U2´s album has sold 278.000 copies in the UK: it will sell 300.000 in a week, and it´s the 5th most sold album in the UK until now...i don´t think it´s going to keep that position, but I´m sure it wil, sell half a million copies

No way, you can be top 10 without 10,000 copies a week, U2 might fall out of the top 40 next week. It will take a couple of weeks till 300k and half a million seems to be out of the question at this point.

Beyonce is touring EUROPE right now... or should be soon. I know that I'm sick and tired of radio always playing her latest 3 singles again and again with lots of promo to her concert in PORTUGAL on MAY 18... this may be a good reason for sales increase all over Europe.
