She probably will, but I'm sure Madonna will break the record one day that she decides to do a long tour.

There is no question that Celine's tour will break Madonna's Confession tour numbers (which was $194 million or so). She is booked for about 125 concerts right now and if she averages $2.2 million per night she will be able to gross about 270 million over the course of her tour.

Madonna obviously could easily gross more than that however she would then need to increase the number of concert dates. If M was to do 125 concerts she could gross $500

I think this year will be a very close call...Madonna tour will gross anywhere between $240 to $270 million (with 55 concerts) and Celine could definitely reach those numbers with 125 concerts

I might be wrong because I dont know much about Celine but I dont think she has 3 kids, dont think she produces hit albums every couple of years, dont think she writs books makes documentarys aor movies.

I think M is doing fine and dandy without killing herself being on a 10,000 year old concert tour.

And here I would've pegged YOU as one of her biggest fans.

HEY!!! ;) I don't care if u find me ugly which im not and far from it but tacky! No Sir!

Enjoy the cheese(Celine) live or in videos. Even Britney live or plugged in is a better live performer. My dog is too.

125, but a few of them were charity gigs.

Anyway, I'm glad that Celine's having such success if only because it makes the touring elite less of a boy's club. The South American gigs have probably put Madonna closer to $300m than $250m - so Celine might finish right behind her.

Who cares about revenues anyway? The profit a tour makes is more interesting. Too bad we will never get to know about them. But I bet the Sticky & Sweet Tour is way more profitable than the Celine tour and in the end Madonna will have made more money than Celine. Not that it matters, they are both filthy rich already.

How can you assume that when Madonna's tours carry the highest production costs in the history? I'm almost certain Celine will bag more cash in the end since her budget is more conservative.

It will be a huge shame for Madonna/Live Nation and it will make headlines around the world.

Celine and her promoter AEG Live (main Live Nation rival) will make a big deal from this.

and that means LiveNation will price tickets even more expensive for the Madonna 2010 tour,so they can regain the title again, which means more stadiums and hopefuly, latinamerica again

Celine has a built-in following. While some may have considered her Vegas stint as career suicide (ie. hip factor), I think it may have been her wisest move as a touring act.

I'm sure LiveNation must be salivating to sign her.

How will this be a huge shame? Put things into perspective. 125 shows compared to approx. 55. IF the title had any meaning to Madonna she would continue the tour and play Japan and Australia and any country she wants to. It´s not like demand for her tickets had gone. And once she announces a Farewell tour she will crash any record in the touring industry anyway.

Celine's show is also huge plus her traveling costs will be much much higher as she and her crew are traveling to many more cities than Madonna. And her crew must be paid more as they will be doing twice the amount of work setting up the stage in all these cities and her tour lasts much longer so everyone must be paid at least twice that of Madonna's, hotel costs will be higher, practically everything will cost higher in her almost year-long tour. So if they gross almost the same, Madonna's tour will be much more profitable as she is traveling to much fewer cities and will be paying her crew for only 4 months work .

I agree that it sounds strange. Therefore some pro and cons (of course these are all assumptions, a touring expert is needed to clear things up)

total revenue: well, we don´t know yet

average revenue per venue: pro Madonna

average revenue per visitor: pro Madonna

average ticket price: pro Madonna

production costs: now this is a tough issue, maybe we need a definition what is included in production costs and what´s not: if this is meant to be everything to bring this show on stage (the whole technical aspect, costumes, staff needed etc) then: pro Celine definately

here some ideas that might make a difference: Celine will have to pay for many more venues than Madonna. She seems to play only arenas, wheras Madonnas is playing stadiums too. I suppose that the costs to rent a stadium per ticket available are much lower compared to an arena gig, simply because demand to rent a stadium for concerts is hardly there. Because of the many dates all over the world Celine is playing airfare, accomodation for cast & crew will most likely exceed Madonnas, even though the number of people travelling are smaller.

Of course, in the end it´s all pretty stupid to argue who will have made more money. As if this will affect our lives in any way. But I have to admit that somehow it feels better to know that Madonna is still the number one. Especially when Celine might be the one to dethrone her. No offence.
