nearly the same as Like a prayer!

4,6 M for Like a Prayer album - only IFPI countries (some european countries not incl fro IFPI awards) and there is no info from Belgium, Poland, Denmark, Norway and Greece for Like a Prayer and other albums(((

I think totals for Like a Prayer - about 5 M - around Music's sales

and I guess:

8xP: The Immaculate Collection

7xP: True Blue, Ray of Light

5xP: Music, Like a Virgin, Like a Prayer

4xP: Confessions on a Dance Floor

3xP: Something to Remember

2xP: Who's That Girl, I'm Breathless, Erotica, Bedtime Stories, Evita, GHV2

1xP (near 2xP ~ 1,9M): First Album, You Can Dance, American Life

Gold: R&R+IGTTYAS

total: 60xP (62-64 M)

WBR should get off their lazy asses and certify COADF for 4xP in the UK already!!!

And 4x Platinum in Canada (Platinum = 100,000)... It's hard sales have already hit 400,000 there...

Depending on how big Jump is, COADF will be eligible for 5x Platinum in Canada and the UK sooner than later...

it's barely reached 1.2M in hard sales in UK... it has to ship 1.5M to be eligible for 5x platinum... that's 300k copies far...

YES.

So WHEN it will get that 5x cert DEPENDS on how BIG Jump is there :)

Not 300k.

When soundscan reaches 1.3-1.4M, shipment would be 1.5M.

Again, the tour, new single and new commercial generated less than 100k sales for the album. I'm disappointed......

Depends on "Jump" how fast. I think she has a chance, as I can see this album a steady catalog seller.

Agreed.

If "Jump" can become a sizable hit in Europe this fall (and with a good video from Jonas it very well could), the holiday sales rush could bring this baby to 5 million come the January/February 2007 certifications. Add that to the possible 2x platinum U.S. certification which should come in the near future (hopefully), and we got 7 million already - which matches Mariah's comeback exactly (6 million US + 1 million Europe).

Where is the media parade for Madonna's "remarkable comeback"?

Well in fairness although AL was a flop it was nowhere as floppish as Shitter or Harmbracelet so the increase in sales was not as dramatic as MuMu's.

WHO ARE THE TOP SELLING ARTIST IN EUROPE IF ANYBODY KNOW?

Celine and Madonna both have the IFPI award for album sales of 50 million across Euope. Celine has only sold a couple million more albums in Europe at the most since her award, but Madonna has hit 60 million at this point.

Madge got her award in early 2001, before new platinum certs for ROL and Music, GHV2's 2x Platinum cert, AL's Platinum cert, and COADF's 4x Platinum cert. That's + 9 million in certs since the award, not countng the fact that AL is actually closer to 2 million or the sales of IGTTYAS or even R&R. So she is at 60 million in Europe, more than Celine.

I think only The Beatles and possibly MJ have sold more than Madonna across Europe. :)

I would just love to see COADF reach 5xP in Europe eventually, which will match "Music".

That would be nice but I think we are going to have to wait awhile.

UK acts dominate album sales list

British acts have so far dominated the European album market in 2006, according to industry figures.

Artists such as The Kooks, Sugababes and Katie Melua have scooped 19 of the year's 36 IFPI Platinum Awards for selling one million copies or more.

The top performer was Robbie Williams who took three awards, including one for his latest album, Rudebox, which sold two million copies in one week.

The US had 12 acts on the list, including UK-signed Scissor Sisters.

The British Phonographic Institute (BPI) said the results underlined the current boom in new British music. Six of the 19 UK Platinum Award winners are 2006 releases.

BPI Chairman Peter Jamieson said: "These latest figures confirm that we are going through a golden age for new British music, even by our own high standards.

"The success UK music is enjoying today bodes well for future years because, as ever in music, it's the hits of today which pay for the hits of tomorrow."

He also said the UK's haul of Platinum Awards for 2006 is likely to go even higher when releases by Arctic Monkeys, Snow Patrol, Corinne Bailey Rae, Keane and Razorlight are finally calculated.

A Platinum Award is given for any album which exceeds one million sales, or a multiple thereof, within the given period.

Euro Top Sellers

1. Robbie Williams - Greatest Hits - 5m

2. James Blunt - Back to Bedlam - 5m

3. Robbie Williams - Intensive Care - 5m

4. Coldplay - X&Y - 4m

5. Madonna - Confessions on a Dancefloor - 4m

well not that I know the figures in all european countries but you cannot simply count more countries for COAD and these bring it to a higher figure than the IC - or do you know more info about the other albums too and didn't bother to post them simply
