Nightshade
23:00 GMT update HC #37 and #104 Is this good? I really thought the album would go Top 20 in iTunes overnight - especially considering hardly anyone owns it yet (still not platinum in the UK). Maybe people are buying the CD? Guest nothingfails0603
looks like Mariah gets payola in the UK too. She's #8 on airplay but nowhere to be seen on sales... just like in the US where she's like #115 on iTunes but #58 because of airplay. Come on programmers, bitch is almost 40, doesn't that mean you're supposed to blacklist her for being an old hag who belongs on AC and Adult Top 40 stations as a recurrent artist

eroticromance
No tour effect on sales! And now HC is at #50 in iTunes with the deluxe edition (the normal edition is out). A new single could have made HUGE difference.

fak
Congratulations to Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson, who as songwriters simultaneously topped the album charts on both sides of the Atlantic last week with different releases (the "Mamma Mia!" soundtrack in the United States, and "ABBA Gold" in the United Kingdom). Benny and Björn also topped both singles charts simultaneously with different releases back in 1977 when "Dancing Queen" was top of the U.S. chart while "Knowing Me, Knowing You" was No. 1 in the United Kingdom. While topping the charts in both countries simultaneously with the same release is not uncommon, being No. 1 with different releases is rare, and I can't recall any other songwriters (or artists) achieving the feat on both the singles and albums charts, although the Beatles probably did. I should also mention that "ABBA Gold" has now held down every position on the U.K. top 75 album chart except No. 42, which it tantalizingly missed by one place on re-entering at No. 43 seven weeks ago.
