GIVE IT 2 ME USA Airplay

I'd honestly say move on to the next single whatever that is, but no one knows yet, and this song REFUSES to just die.

Hell, 4Minutes is still on the charts. it's not dead yet.

This song was pretty much almost dead on arrival, and it's just done.

And BTW, checking on Madonna's chart history, she hasn't really been radio's "darling" since the early 90s really, and it's 2008 now.

Sure she's had a hit here or there every several years, but the majority of her singles underperform, and more flop than hit.

So isn't is safe to say already that Madonna is OVER in the US?

I personally think that if it wasn't for Madonna's little electronica re-invention with ROL/MUSIC....this would have happened after Evita sometime. That era revived her career, but that era is now passe too. So what we're seeing is, exactly what would have inevitably happened. Aging, same-old-Madonna, gets tired, radio loses interest public loses interest, and that's that.

If she wants to remain relevant she's going to have to reinvent herself in interesting and innovative ways.

She's going to have to pull Cher's Believe with every album to pretty much stay relevant, but she doesn't want to, she doesn't have to,

and perhaps she's not capable of that.

4Minutes succeeded because of its sound, Justin/Timbaland. Madonna tried to make herself as YOUNG as humanly possible and as hip as possible, to make the song passable to American radio, and it worked, but radio and the public were still aware that this was a 50 year old woman, and that it could have been a disaster, but it somehow worked.

That's why Give it 2 Me is being ignored. It's 50 yo woman, singing another random song. NO one cares and no one can relate to it.

How can people relate to give it 2 me???? How?? I can't.

Beat Goes On is a bit more radio friendly , and so is devil.

Madonna really needs to do something out of this world again.

She did it with ROL and it was an uber success, and then that's it. Music was just a boring, slow, 10-track album, then she had more flop movies, boring and uninspired images, the travesty that was American Life, then she went on to DISCO....

I mean does anyone expect anything different????

Radio is about NEW and young, but if Madonna produces something FRESH and INTERESTING,....it will get played.

4M worked but was NOT fresh.

Give it 2 me is not as good as 4M.

When I first heard Cher's BELIEVE, I didn't even know who CHER WAS. I was young. I LOVED the song, and kept playing it and bought the remixes, and then saw this woman,....didn't look too old or too bad, just very overdone, then I learned that she was 50 something, and I'm like wow,....this song is so hot, go her. It had the vocoder which was somewhat new at the time, and I tihnk her song was the first mainstream hit song that had the use of the vocoder.

It was a gorgeous and beautiful song.

Madonna needs something big like that. Hung Up kind of was, Music kind of was, 4Minutes wasn't

and GIVE it 2 me,

CLEARLY ISN'T.

Agreed. Same sentiments here

I need to get a life? Hahaha. Babes, I can type 3 pages worth of material in under 5/10 minutes.

That doesn't take up much of my time.

It's called typing skills.

:tongue::tongue::tongue::tongue:

Though I do share your sentiments, if they weren't so...negative.

Anyone who spends even THAT much effort on a hell, any type of a forum,

must have a bit too much time on their hands.

And I do :-P :dramatic::dramatic: god forbiddddddd. :eye roll:

On a more important, and less jaded/b89chy/have nothing to offer but negativity (typical of NJ residents, and american gay ppl in general):cough:: it's so true :Cough:,..........

WHYYYYYY does anyone know why, Give it 2 me is flopping like it is, and not doing so well in the REST of the world?

Let alone the US. It only peaked at #7 in the UK which I'm sure is still good, but that's the same peak as get together over there, and sorry even hit #1.

What's so wrong with this song? lol.

I really expected that at the very least GI2M would hit Top 40 at pop. Part of its failure in USA (and perhaps also elsewhere) must be credited to the fact that 4M still lingers.

Thanks for the chart btw.

Nah. Plenty of songs by other artists still linger while another one shoots up. GI2M simply bombed. Lack of any kind of push from Warner or Madonna can also be to blame. Beat Goes On is the only hope to saving this album.

Yes, but Madonna isn't a US radio favorite artist and couldn't easily have two simultaneous hits. Also 4M had a peculiar release pattern, it was released to radio and as a digital download at the same time. For radio stations that take their time to add songs it may be still considered current. I'm not saying that GI2M should have set the charts on fire or anything but come on, Top 40 at Pop was a realistic expectation, with or without promotion.

I disagree. GI2M was, IMO, a very bad dare. Most of us predicted doom when it was announced that this was going to be the next single. I didn’t expect it to latch on anywhere—expect for with, maybe, club play. Contemporary radio certainly wasn’t going to play it. On the contrary, if BGO had been released while 4M was just slowing down, I could see Madonna possibly having two singles in the top forty simultaneously…but that wasn’t going to happen with a song like GI2M.

I have maybe said this at least 100x now lol , like many others here, that as much as a I love and still love GI2M, it shouldnt ever have been released as a single in the US. One has to be objective, not delusional to think GI2M wouldve gotten any kind of mainstream love on US radio. WW/ non US release, fine, but not the US. BGO I believe wouldve done better. Dunno by how much, doesnt matter as it most definitely would've outperformed Gi2M on radio and sales. Everything about BGO has potential US hit, yes even for Madonna.

i think 4 minutes was for u.s. and give it to me for europe (and casual u.s. fans). unfortunately give it to me didnt get the attention it deserve from europe either. this project is pretty much over in u.s., general public didnt like it as much as we did and hoped. moreover, lack of interest in promotion both from madonna and wbr resulted in lower sales too.

i doubt any of madonna's songs will be a success on pop radio....she is too old sadly....i think you guys worryy about her being played on radio for under 16's than she does......why should she mould her music to be played on crappy pop radio in the USA ......im so glad madonna does nt go into the studio thinking "i should reject this sound because its too undergroud for out of date usa radio" we would nt have half of her greats today

i think she should push herself on stations that will play her reagrdless of her age.

i thin she should release a remixed version of miles away....by frankie knuckles...like toni braxton and mj did in the 90's

Good song, terrible choice as a single. She could have kept the momentum going( as Green Day did with their last CD) and release the most commercial song. She didn't. It has nothing to do with 4M being popular still.

Wow, the HC era started out so promising with a smash hit single in the US and renewed interest in Madonna. She has a chance to recapture this with the tour and promo with the tour. Will she come through????????

*omg* people in here still talks about videos like it's the 90's

the video is NOT the reason this song flopped. Most videos nowdays are bad, meaningless bland shit no matter if it's a flop song or a hit song.

Videos does NOT have the impact they had!

Do you think radio didn't want to play the song because of a lame video? PLZ!

it has nothing to do with the video.

The song was just not for the ignorant US radio. It's as simple as that. And obviously lack of promo too.

everyone these days makes crappy videos

as long as you have one, then your fine

quality of the video has nothing to do with chart success

bjork makes some of the best videos ever, but do you see her charting high in the states, or atleast, get airplay?

have you seen gnarls barkley's new vid, "who's gonna save my soul?"

a FANTASTIC video

but thats not gonna help it get radio airplay

heck, to be honest, it will get very little

according to Madonnatribe:

MadonnaTribe News has just heard from reliable sources

that it's 200% confirmed at this moment that Miles

Candy album even though we don't have any info on the

video at this point. Stay tuned!
