Cut the drama.

Dropping like a rock when it falls to #9? Dropping like a rock is when it falls from #3 to #53.

Album sales overall are awful. Believe me, no major artists will release albums in the spring anymore.

yep , I don't know why artists like Madonna & Mariah released their albums in April.

It looks like this album is turning out to be an American Life Sized Flop :dramatic:. Before, I guessed it would have sold around 2 million but now I think the best one can hope for is for it to at least go platinum.

Well, at least we know it will outsell Discipline and 20 Y.O. not that that is a tough feature.

doesn't she deserve this for not promoting her damn album???

Yes she does deserve it, maybe it will bring her back down to planet earth.

It laughable that people thought COADF was a FLOP and was "too European/gay sounding".

Yet she tries the URBAN/USA thing and it backfires on her.

it's only the third week.. geez.. she hasn't had an album in the top 10 sales in American in its third week since Music

Not true. Confessions spent 3 weeks in the top 10 in a far tougher sales climate.

ON MY WAY HERE

Glad to see MC still falling. Not a bad showing for HC. Hopefully, SS will hav higher numbers and be above MC again this week. Big drop for Neil but that's to be expected. And OMG at Clay's drop. Will he earn the biggest 2nd week drop ever?

HITS Has had Mimi at lower numbers, so Mimi could see a higher SS total. It's HITS' turn to be higher on Madonna, so I'm expecting a lower SoundScan number for her. :p

He is really holding on. Must be good word of mouth cause nothing else is keeping him there. And I said months ago that it was a good record and I got bashed.

Not as bad as I thought. With just a tad bit of promotion, maybe Ellen? imagine what she could do. It needs to develop some legs.

It does, otherwise it won't spend much more time on the BB200 than AL did. However, sales are lower now (esp. at the bottom of the chart), so it mayt eke out a little more time.

After 3 weeks, AL stood at roughly 390,000. If HC's numbers hold, it will stand at roughly 426,000 and change. And AL is the album to compare it to, cause HC isn't going to get anywhere near COADF's to-date tally.

It all depends on Give It 2 Me and how it does. AL was already dead at this time and radio was going to give nothing else from the album a chance. 4 Minutes still has yet to peak and I hope GI2M also gets a good shot, plus the tour is around the corner and I am sure stations will be giving away tickets which will put more focus on Madonna and spinning her new songs. My gut tells me that this will in no way turn into AL part 2.

Link to comment

Well, as long as it outscans AL, it won't be. :) But, would be nice if it outscanned it by at least 100K or more.

4M will be the album's biggest airplay hit, and it's likely close to peaking overall (Mediabase audience up just .7m from a week ago). GI2M really isn't the best choice in terms of USA airplay- I always said that if it at least cracks Hot 100 Airplay, that will be somewhat of a success, considering it's just Madonna (credited, anyway).

I would be thrilled with a million scanned. Anything over 800,000 is icing.

GI2M is a terrible choice for the US. I could be wrong, but I think it will tank hard. Then again, I would have never thought 4M would be anywhere as huge as it is now so what do I know.
