most of which loved 80-s madonna, owned her albums on cassettes and found it worthwhile to have her 80s hits on one CD, in a more durable form

^^I am amazed to see that the #1 best-selling album of 2008 has only sold 1,13m copies so far!!! And Mariah Carey with a recent #1 single and 6m sold of her previous album is struggling to sell 1m!!! I am more than satisfied with M-Dolla's numbers after seeing this! :)

I remember watching the chart history of TIC when it first came out and it was pretty unimpressive for a Madonna GH CD. Peaked at #2 and fell off the charts certified at 2 million. No one rushed out to buy it and it sold over time is my point.

U2, Coldplay and Usher are all dropping new albums. U2 will not release until the end of the year... so M has a decent chance of being in the Top 10 best selling albums given the she has one of the newest albums and is going to be in the Top 20 on her 3rd week most likely. Not too shabby.

Madonna's not going to have one of the top ten selling albums of the year. The majority of sales happen in November/December. She'd have to outsell Confessions to make it to the top ten, and that's not going to happen at this rate.

The Hard Candy numbers are still AWFUL, she might be lucky if she sells 1 million, but hopefully she will outsell AL, she HAS to since Hard Candy is such a good album and much better than American Shite! HC is flopping but I hope is not as bad as AL.

Oh please, I'm tired of all the negativity and Madonna bashing! Some of you bitches are real Madonna fans?

I have my doubts!

Why not support the album and Madonna's upcoming tour?

Who gives a fuck if HARD CANDY doesn't do as well in the U.S in comparison to other countries?

The U.S media/radio stations are infatuated with Mariah, that gives her an instant advantage over Madge in the U.S.

Amen. I feel sad though HC isn't doing better because she made this album for the American audience. Fuck Americans who ignore this project. I hope the next thing she does is even more far-out than American Life.

That's kind of a harsh thing to say! She has not promoted her CD at all in the USA...

JR is a really nice guy, but I am kind of shocked at his opinion on this. Its okay JR. Hard Candy is not flopping. I am sure when all is said and done it will have had a nice chart run. Dont jump the gun just yet. And NO its NOT a Janet sized flop. That poor think will barely get passed 400k.

And to add.... In half a years time the top selling album has only sold........ 1 JOHNSON*JACK SLEEP THROUGH THE STATIC 1,130,426.

If that doesnt show how much record sales are in the crapper, I dont know what does. Madonna will be halfway to that mark by this time next week........or in two or 3 more weeks. lol

what the fuck else would they do with their time? show me one post in one thread where the same people aren't bitching and whining. someone recently told me, you will never find a madonna forum where there is no bitchiness. i guess it's the nature of the majority of her fans. sad, really.

I might have missed it but is HC number 5 or 3 this week? I heard 5 but thought I read 3 here?

Hits predicted 5 but the official chart is #3. They were off like 11k in their prediction.

The Hits chart is not a "prediction." It is based on sales reports. It's simply a different chart attempting to measure the same thing. Their tracking of stores is slightly different from Soundscan, that's all.

They have nothing to do with Billboard/Soundscan.

HITS:

THEY WILL POSSESS YOUR CHART: Death Cab for Cutie’s second major label release, on Atlantic, will top next Tuesday’s chart with a projected first-week tally of 140-150k, spurred by the hit single “I Will Possess Your Heart.” That puuts the Seattle PoMo band far ahead of Reprise’s still-dead Frank Sinatra, who’ll bow in the neighborhood of 80-85k, and Island/IDJ’s Mariah Carey, with an expected 65-70k. The debuting Jason Mraz (Atlantic) and Leona Lewis (Syco/J/RMG), should complete the Top 5, as both roll toward 60-65k. Welsh thrush Duffy (making her debut on the revived Mercury label), who’s riding a growing buzz from her irresistible single “Mercy,” will battle second-weeker Neil Diamond (Columbia) and the down-sliding Madonna (WB) for the sixth position, as all three head toward 55-60k. Toby Keith (Showdog/UMe) should wind up at #9, with 45-50k, while a fifth debut, 10 Years (Universal Republic), will vie with Keith Sweat (Rhino), both trending toward 30-35k. And now, we return our focus to the second round of the NBA Playoffs.

01 Death Cab for Cutie: 140-150k

02 Frank Sinatra: 80-85k

03 Mariah Carey: 65-70k

04 Jason Mraz: 60-65k

04 Leona Lewis: 60-65k

06 Duffy: 55-60k

06 Neil Diamond: 55-60k

06 Madonna: 55-60k

09 Toby Keith: 45-50k

10 Keith Sweat: 30-35k
