Yeah I know what you mean Zezwer. I'm afraid that no matter how good her 2nd single is Madonna is definately going to have a hard time getting her songs on the radio. We've alll seen what has happened with 4Minutes, it's already sold over a million and has been #1 in Itunes for a long time and it's barely scratching the 50Million AI and look at other artists*cough*Mariah*cough*. I'm really beginning to think that Payola does exists and all this time I thought it was just an urban legend......LOL

Well... if you see how fast Mariah's new single is rising in airplay... well there you have the answer... PAYOLA DOES EXIST!

Bye Bye is probably the worst single of the year... so...

Madonna would be lucky to git over 200,000

that will be so embarrassing

haha

i wonder what these fans will say than

Well what else could we say? That would definately be consider a flop by Madonna standards and any fan in here would admit to that. But I"m pretty sure we don't have to worry about that, eventhough Madge is not doing much promotion I still think she'll end up selling around 325 to 350K in the 1st week. I'm hoping for more but I'll be happy if she gets those type of sales.

BUY BUY is such a boring single, it took a while for TMB to grow on me but I don't think this single will ever grow on me. I wonder if Mariah will ever take a risk with her career and try to come up with something inovative and creative, even Janet has taken more risks than Mariah.

ITS NOT EVEN THAT ITS BECAUSE THE WOMAN IS WHITE WITH NO SIMIAN BLOOD IN HERE AT ALL

On the ratings the Urban stations are really high in all the markets in the US. So the pop stations play Urban because they see that that's what people there like.. Who supports the whole urban thing??? The blacks only??Of course not. I don't think so! All the american youth and not only is obsessed with that kind of music.. It's really sad.. The music tastes show the educational level of a nation

Billboard.com:

Mariah Carey Remains Atop Billboard 200

April 30, 2008, 11:10 AM

by Katie Hasty, N.Y.

Despite a 61% decline in sales, Mariah Carey's Island Def Jam set "E=MC2" remains atop The Billboard 200 for a second straight week. The album, the diva's sixth No. 1, moved 182,000 copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan. British singer Leona Lewis' "Spirit" (Syco/J) follows suit, staying put at No. 2 in its second week with 96,000 and a 1% sales increase.

Parody musical duo Flight Of The Conchords' self-titled full-length debut bows at No. 3 with 52,000. The Sub Pop album comes on the heels of "The Distant Future" EP, released in October, which reached No. 116 on The Billboard 200. This is the Seattle indie label's highest-charting title since the Shins' "Wincing the Night Away" bowed at No. 2 in February 2007.

With 47,000 copies, Ashlee Simpson's "Bittersweet World" (Geffen) debuts at No. 4, her first album not to take the No. 1 spot on the chart. Her first two albums, 2004's "Autobiography" and 2005's "I Am Me," both started at No. 1.

Hip-hop artist Atmosphere easily scores his best sales and chart week ever as "When Life Gives You Lemons, You Paint That Sh*t Gold" (Rhymesayers) starts at No. 5 with 36,000. His previous charting high-water mark came from 2005's "You Can't Imagine How Much Fun We're Having," which peaked at No. 66. "When Life..." also becomes the highest-charting album for the Rhymesayers label; the previous best was, again, Atmosphere's stop at No. 66.

The multi-label "NOW 27" compilation slips 5-6 with 32,000 (-17%), while the Rhino soundtrack to "Juno" bounces back 8-7 with 31,000 (-2%). George Strait's "Troubadour" (MCA Nashville) falls 6-8 with 29,000, a 24% dip. Taylor Swift's self-titled Big Machine set climbs 10-9 with a 9% sales loss to 27,000.

Country singer Phil Vassar ties his previous charting best with his first Universal South album "Prayer of a Common Man" at No. 10; the set sold 27,000. His 2006 "Greatest Hits" collection also achieved the same peak. Sales of this set are fueled by his new single "Love is a Beautiful Thing," which continues to climb the Hot Country Songs chart and currently sits at No. 5.

Story Of The Year has the next biggest debut on The Billboard 200 as "The Black Swan" (Epitaph) starts with 21,000 at No. 18, one slot better than the No. 19 debut of its 2005 album "In the Wake of Determination." Other debuts this week include California-by-way-of-Boston duo the Weepies' "Hideaway" (Nettwerk) at No. 31 with 14,000 and rapper Prodigy's "H.N.I.C. Pt. 2" (AAO Music) at No. 36 with 13,000.

Album sales this week are down 8% from last week's sum with 6.87 million units and down 11% from the same week last year.

MARIAH'S MC = #1

Ashlee, Conchords, Atmosphere and Phil Vassar Bow in Top 10 as Carey Nabs Another Winning Week

April 29, 2008

It's yet another win called Mariah for the Island/IDJ diva, whose E=MC2 Careys her to a second straight week on top, relatively speaking, with 176k sold, for a two week-total over 650k. That was more than enough for her to top challenger Leona Lewis, whose J Records/Syco Music debut, Spirit, remains at #2 with 98k, up 9% thanks to her appearance on American Idol.

Ashlee Simpson's Geffen album Bittersweet World debuts at #3, making her significant other, Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz, very happy.

Wacky Kiwis Bret and Jemaine, aka Flight of the Conchords, bow at #4, with their self-titled Sub Pop long-play debut, as the HBO cult stars generate almost 50k in first-week sales.

Minneapolis art-hip-hop duo Atmosphere' rapper Slug and DJ/producer Ant' enters the Top 10 at #7 with their Rhymesayer/ILG album, the marvelously titled When Life Gives You Lemons, You Paint That Shit Gold.

Universal South country mainstay Phil Vassar's Prayer of a Common Man is the other Top 10 newcomer at #9.

Mainstays like SBMG/Commercial Music Group's Now 27 (#5), Rhino's Juno soundtrack (#6), MCA Nashville's George Strait (#8) and Big Machine/Universal Republic's Taylor Swift (#10) round out the Top 10.

Epitaph's Story of the Year (#20), Nettwerk's Weepies (#33), AAO Music's Mobb Deep member Prodigy (#39) and Universal Latino's Enrique Iglesias (#46) are the other new Top 50 entries.

Reprise's Michael Buble returns to the chart with Call Me Irresponsible (#21), joined by Atlantic's Kid Rock (#41), Pearl Records' Garth Brooks Ultimate Hits collection (#44) and BNA/SBMG Nashville's Kenny Chesney (#45), all re-entering.

Among the week's gainers are Warner Bros. Nashville's James Otto (#13, +7%), 19/Jive/ZLG's Jordin Sparks (#21-18, +7%), Hollywood's Jonas Brothers (#22-19, +8%) and Universal Republic's Colbie Caillat (#27-22, +6%).

Madonna's final studio album for Warner Bros, Hard Candy, hits retail this week and is expected to debut at #1 next Tuesday.

Other albums streeting include Hear Music/Concord Music Group's Carly Simon, Def Jam's The Roots, Island's Portishead (their first studio album in 10 years), Columbia's Lyfe Jennings, Jive/ZLG's Lil' Mama and WB's Tom Petty-led Mudcrutch.

HITS:

Hard Candy Will Bow on Top, Lyfe Jennings, The Roots, Def Leppard and Portishead Also Debut

April 30, 2008

Madonna will leave Warner Bros., the only label she’s ever known, with a bang.

Her final studio album for the Bunny, Hard Candy, is on track to sell between 275-300k, which will handily end Mariah Carey’s two-week reign with E=MC2, according to one-day sale reports from those retailers still standing around this great country of ours.

The Material Gal has one more album, a greatest hits collection, to go before splitting for a long-term deal with concert promoter Live Nation. The album’s her first since 2005’s Confessions on a Dance Floor, which sold more than 8 million worldwide. In the U.S., it debuted at #1, selling 351k copies in its first week, taking the top spot from Carrie Underwood’s Some Hearts. In its second week, Confessions on a Dance Floor sold 210k copies and slipped to #4 with a 39% sales decrease. To date, the album has sold over 1.7 million copies in the U.S.

Columbia R&B star Lyfe Jennings’ Lyfe Change, his third album, is on track to sell between 75-80k, which should be good for a Top 5 bow, fueled by the single, “Never Never Land.” His last disc, 2006’s The Phoenix, debuted at #2 and went on to sell 450k.

Veteran Def Jam rappers The Roots return with Rising Down, their first since 2006’s Game Theory, with a first-week sales number in the 50-60k range

Hair metal mainstays Def Leppard’s Universal album Songs from the Sparkle Lounge is doing better than expected, thanks to the band’s appearance on last night’s Dancing with the Stars, where they performed their new single, “Nine Lives,” which features Tim McGraw. One-day sales estimates peg their total at 45-50k. The band’s U.S. tour with Styx and REO Speedwagon is already underway.

Island Records trip-hop pioneers Portishead return with their first studio album in a decade, and third overall, the cleverly dubbed Third, on track for an impressive 40-45k in sales after their critically acclaimed performance at Coachella last weekend.

Tom Petty’s Mudcrutch album on Warner Bros. looks set for 25-30k after a string of intimate performances with his one-time Gainesville, FL, bandmates at the Troubadour in L.A., his old stomping grounds.

Epic Records' SoCal atmospheric pop-rockers Augustana’s Can’t Love, Can’t Hurt is on target for 20-25k

The market was down 8% vs last week, down 11% vs same week last year and now down 11% year-to-date…. as Hollywood continues to burn outside HITS’ Sunset and Vine headquarters..

275/300k, not bad at all. no promo at all so far. Hits predictions are based on first day sales. the gig and the (maybe) TV shows could easily boost the figures.

185K?? great. the "4 M pass one million mark" was the most frustrating wonderful news possible. sale remains incredibly steady. what a smash! itunes charts is not 7 days roll, so with Roseland and TV promo, the song should climb at the end of the week and sales will increase. no doubt about that. fantastic week to come!
