Brisy_Boy
Michael Jackson should be recovering his economies as the Thriller 25th Anniversary is selling very well worldwide... a lot more than one would expect! (especially when it was a special edition a few years ago) Should Warner release a "Like A Virgin" 25th Anniversary for Christmas 2009 ???

thebigham
http://blogs.usatoday.com/listenup/2008/03...nterstitialskip Brown still No. 1, but for how much longer? Chris Brown's With You is No. 1 for the fifth week on the national radio airplay audience chart, but it could relinquish that position as early as next week. Usher's Love in This Club parlays a big increase in audience into a move from No. 3 to No. 2, and if it continues to grow at its current rate and Brown's decline accelerates, Usher has a shot at No. 1 next week. Flo Rida's Low drops to No. 3, according to Nielsen BDS, Arbitron and Radio & Records data, and Mariah Carey's Touch My Body holds at 4 but enjoys a substantial increase in audience. Sarah Bareilles (6-5) and Ray J (9-6) are also up strongly, followed by three declining songs, RIhanna's Don't Stop the Music, Timbaland & OneRepublic's Apologize and Alicia Keys' No One. Making its top 10 debut is No Air by Jordin Sparks with Chris Brown. More detailed analysis follows. > The annotated top 10: 1-1 last week Chris Brown, With You (down 6.8% in total audience): Took a substantial hit, losing nearly 10 million audience impressions this week. 2-3 Usher, Love in This Club (+15.9%): Gained audience at nearly the same rate as last week, which is remarkable this high on the chart. Added nearly 15 million audience impressions, putting it 27 million behind Brown. So if it can pick up 15 million more and Brown loses 12 million (unlikely but not impossible scenarios), it can take over next week. Probably a shoo-in for the week after, in any case. 3-2 Flo Rida, Low (-3.6%): Rallied a little, cutting its rate of audience evaporation in half, enough to stay ahead of Mariah for one more week. 4-4 Mariah Carey, Touch My Body (+10.7%): Will reach No. 2 shortly (unless Ray J catches it), but chances for a No. 1 seem to be diminishing every week. 5-6 Sara Bareilles, Love Song (+6.4%): Keeps on climbing, but now it's stuck behind Usher and Mariah with Ray J hot on its heels. 6-9 Ray J, Sexy Can I (+20.4%): Massive hit might even catch Mariah, though probably not next week. 7-5 Rihanna, Don't Stop the Music (-2.9%): Still in the slow-decline phase. 8-7 Timbaland & OneRepublic, Apologize (-1.6%): Permanently in the slow-decline phase -- every time it seems to be finally sliding (as during last week, when it dropped 7% in audience), it stabilizes again (as in this week, where it nearly held steady). It may never leave the top 10. 9-8 Alicia Keys, No One (-7.5%): Outlasts its follow-up (Like You'll Never See Me Again fell out of the top 10 this week, dropping to No. 12), but would seem headed out of the top 10 -- except that nothing seems ready to replace it. 10-17 Jordin Sparks, No Air (+15.1%): Exceeding her first hit and turning into a true American Idol airplay triumph (there aren't as many as you might think). > Next week's top 10 contenders: Thought about leaving this category blank, because the songs at Nos. 11-16 are all headed downward with substantial audience declines. Then you hit two songs experiencing minimal growth (Buckcherry's Sorry, 19-17, +1.1% in audience; Mario's Crying Out for Me, 20-18, +0.2%), followed by a couple of slow decliners, followed by Miley Cyrus' See You Again, which is up 24-21 but whose rate of audience increase slowed from 22.9% last week to 3.9% this week. Pretty hard to identify a top 10 contender out of that batch. > This week's hottest songs: Leona Lewis' Bleeding Love is the leader here, jumping 59-40 on the chart in its third week with a whopping 39.9% audience gain. Flo Rida's follow-up, Elevator, rises 78-58 in its second week with a 28.0% increase. Rascal Flatts' Every Day jumps 83-70 in week No. 2, increasing audience 24.9%. Colby O'Donis' What You Got is up 63-46 in its third week with a 23.7% audience gain. And Rick Ross' The Boss moves 47-35 in its fourth week with a 20.7% gain. > This week's debuts on the top 100: Madonna, enlisting Justin Timberlake's assistance for 4 Minutes (wonder what he charges?), achieves the highest debut of the week at an impressive No. 60. Brad Paisley's I'm Still a Guy enters at No. 79, Lil' Wayne's Lollipop comes in at 82, Ashanti returns at 87 with The Way That I Love You, and Michael Buble's Lost enters at No. 100. thebigham
From Radio and Records: Also notable is the return of Madonna, who clocks in at No. 23 on CHR/Top 40 with "4 Minutes" (Warner Bros.), her record-tying 26th chart hit (and first in two years). The preview single from "Hard Candy," due April 29, matches the format mark for most charted titles set by Mariah Carey just five weeks ago with "Touch My Body" (IDJMG). "4 Minutes," featuring Justin Timberlake, who inducted Madonna into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame earlier this month, also takes Most Increased Plays (up 2,147, the format's best gain in more than three years) and is the list's highest arrival since Christina Aguilera's "Ain't No Other Man" roared in at No. 21 in June 2006. Guest Bad Robot
Wow -- Madonna had the best pop gain in THREE YEARS. I'm amazed at the positive response! Braby
Man, it's gonna be close between Usher and Leona for this week's no.1 but think Lewis can just about do it, as she has a physical out right (even though she's lower on streaming, at 6 to Usher's 4). My guesstimates: Chris Brown: Airplay: 140.107m = 104.107 points Sales: 65,315 = 65.315 points Total for Crhis Brown = 205.422 Usher: Airplay: 116.355m = 116.355 points Sales: 138,414 = 138.414 points Total for Usher: 254.769 points Leona: Airplay: 37.586m = 37.586 points Sales: 219,237 = 219.237 points Total for Leona: 256.823 points Leona Lewis - Billboard No. 1 this week then? thebigham
Billboard.com: Danity Kane Snags Second Straight No. 1 Album March 26, 2008 by Katie Hasty, N.Y. Danity Kane's "Welcome to the Dollhouse" goes straight to the penthouse on The Billboard 200, the second straight No. 1 for the group. The MTV "Making the Band 3" troupe, signed to Diddy's Bad Boy imprint, moved 236,000 copies of its sophomore effort in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Danity Kane's 2006 self-titled debut also started at the top, with 234,000. It's only March, but "Dollhouse" enjoys the second-biggest sales week of the year. Only Jack Johnson's "Sleep Through the Static" had a bigger bow when it debuted at No. 1 with 375,000 in February. "Static" falls 4-5 in its seventh week on the chart with 67,000, despite a 21% increase. The multi-label "NOW 27" compilation experiences a 1% uptick in sales to 170,000 copies, holding tight at No. 2. Last week's No. 1, Rick Ross' "Trilla" (Slip-N-Slide/Def Jam), slips to No. 3 with a 54% sales decrease to 90,000. Fueled by his chart-topping single "Low," Flo Rida's debut album "Mail on Sunday" (Poe Boy/Atlantic) bows at No. 4 with 86,000. The rapper has the biggest selling digital download of all time, as "Low" has sold 3.3 million downloads since its November release. Miley Cyrus' Disney double-disc "Hannah Montana 2 (Soundtrack)/Meet Miley Cyrus" rockets 16-6 with a 137% sales boost to 61,000. Additionally, her "The Best of Both Worlds Concert" set clings to No. 10 with 51,000 (+48%). But Cyrus' albums aren't the only kid-friendly releases to score bigger numbers this week in the wake of the Easter holiday. Taylor Swift's self-titled Big Machine album enjoys a 74% increase to 57,000 (12-8), Sara Bareilles' "Little Voice" (Epic) has a 38% sales gain to 55,000 (7-9), the Fox/Razor & Tie soundtrack to "Alvin and the Chipmunks" jumps 49% to 48,000 (15-11) and the Jonas Brothers' self-titled Hollywood set rockets 197% to 47,000 (17-12). The Disney soundtrack to "Enchanted" also bolts 149-39 with a 281% gain to 18,000, after the film hit DVD last week. Snoop Dogg's "Ego Trippin'" (Geffen) fills out the top 10, falling 3-7 with 57,000 (-58%). Further down, Gnarls Barkley's sophomore album, "The Odd Couple" (Downtown/Atlantic) begins at No. 18 with 31,000. The set was rushed to market last Tuesday (March 18) weeks ahead of its original April 8 release date, likely because of an early leak online. 85% of the sales were via online retail. Rapper Rocko's "Self-Made" (Rocky Road Records/Universal) is also new at No. 21 with 28,000. Album sales this week are up 11.3% over the prior week to 8.83 million and down 1.1% compared to the same week in 2007. Additional reporting by Keith Caulfield. Guest Bad Robot
Ouch @ Gnarls Barkley debuting at 18. Fat Joe stumbles from #6 to #56. Wow. To be fair to Gnarls, the album was suddenly pushed up 3 weeks and was mostly available only digitally. But, that said, I'm guessing they're going to be essentially "one-hit-wonders" in the US. thebigham
HITS: THAT’LL BE THE DAY 26 ON CHARTS P. Diddy’s Bad Boy Will Have A Second Consecutive #1, Panic at the Disco, Counting Crows Both Headed Top 5 March 26, 2008 P. Diddy did it again. Based on one-day sales from shell-shocked retailers around this Barack Obama-infatuated country of ours, Bad Boy/Atlantic’s Day 26 will likely follow fellow Making the Band grads Danity Kane to #1 on next week’s HITS Album chart. The N.Y.-based boy band’s self-titled debut is on target to sell between 225-250k, comparable to the 253k scored by Kane’s Welcome to the Dollhouse. Hey, a little old-school hip-hop publicity linking Diddy to a shooting of Tupac outside a New York recording studio 14 years ago couldn’t hurt. Decaydance/Fueled by Ramen Las Vegas art-poppers Panic at the Disco return without an exclamation point on their sophomore album, Pretty. Odd., the Beatles/ELO-inspired follow-up to their multi-platinum debut, A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out. First-day sales estimates look to be around 120k, give or take, good enough to challenge for #2. Veteran Geffen rockers Counting Crows’ Saturday Nights & Sunday Mornings does more than get lonely Adam Duritz out of the house, it also spurs between 110-115k in sales, good for a Top 5 debut. The new album by Third Man/Warner Bros. act The Raconteurs, the collaboration between White Stripes’ Jack White and Detroit pal Brendan Benson, Consolers of the Lonely, was rush-released Tuesday, and appears set for between 30-35k in sales. The B-52s’ comeback album, Funplex, their first in 16 years since Good Stuff in 1992, on Astralwerks, appears headed for around 25k. Columbia’s WWE: The Music Vol. 8, featuring Saliva and Collie Buddz, throws its hat in the ring to the tune of 20k, while MySpace’s Pennywise is on track to sell between 8-10k in the wake of their 500k free downloads through its Textango promotion. In its second week (which would have been its debut week), Downtown/Atlantic’s Gnarls Barkley, #1 at iTunes, chalks up another 25k to add to its total of 31k this week. The market was up 11% vs. last week, up 1% vs. same week last year and now down 10% year-to-date, but don’t get too excited because the week we’re comping against last year was not Easter.
