iasonas
Well, both "4 Minutes" & "Secret" peaked at #3, spent 11 weeks in the Top 10, were lead-off singles of "urban" flavoured" albums and were done by in-demand black producers. The huge difference is that "Secret" peaked at #11 in sales and #3 in airplay while "4 Minutes" peaked at #11 in airplay and #1 in sales. Which one is the bigger and "more remembered" hit? So give it to me no1 for 7 weeks like Take a bow
HolidayGuy
Keep in mind that with the advent of the BDS/SoundScan era, there was a lower rate of turnover in the top 10 for the biggest hits- pre that era, there'd be 100+ top 10 hits in a calendar year; after that, the number was cut back by 40% or more. Too early to say which will be the "more remembered" hit between "Secret" and "4 Minutes"- 4M is the bigger sales hit, though they fared almost pretty evenly at top 40 mainstream ("Secret" No. 3, "4 Minutes" No. 5). A couple format charts for this week: * Adult Top 40: Holds at No. 20, no bullet * Rhythmic Top 40: Drops Off

Candylipsgirl
WBR is really getting on my nerves. 2x platinum is what is should be! They are just stupid is 4m close to 1.7million already?
thebigham
^Sigh. How can they certify it 2xp when it has only sold 1.720 million digital singles?? The digital certification is based on singles sold. You can't ship digital singles!!!

Guest jamesshot
Bitch, bitch, bitch. Moan, moan, moan. Tired, tired. tired. bigham, relax a bit. Its Candy's thing. I find her rants entertaining. Look at it as "her thing". If she suddenly stopped doing it, I would miss it. Its part of her charm!
thebigham
No, it's tiring!! I hope I don't have to read her "flop" posts each week until the album falls of the charts. Plus, she's completely wrong about the 2xp certification.
afrolito
bigham, relax a bit. Its Candy's thing. I find her rants entertaining. Look at it as "her thing". If she suddenly stopped doing it, I would miss it. Its part of her charm! There's nothing charming about insanity. She needs to take a break, get a life, and stop obsessing over Madonnas' supposed flops. That would be the healthy thing in the long run.
Guest edmondlee
it will be 2xp, but not now. why WBR issued 1xp now? then a few weeks later they issue 2xp, waste the $$$, haha

HolidayGuy
It will be 2xp, elee? Don't think so. COADF hasn't even been certified 2 platinum, and HC is very unlikely to approach that album's to-date sales.

If she suddenly stopped doing it, I would miss it. Its part of her charm! Oh, Thanx babes. Im NOT upset with TBH at all. He writes beautiful posts. Im sorry that I offend him, but thats NOT my intention. And I was NOT complaining re: 4m- I was only saying round it up to 2M. Im not sure what the process entails; Is it necessary for WBR to do 2 certs in a matter of a month or two- or could they just have waited. I am NOT condemning HC or 4m when I say those things-please dont misconstrue-Im just very suspicious of WBR because of how slow they are in the process of certs. WBR seems to take yrs to update her catalog-and I dont want to see HC reach 800k and still remain gold for another 10yrs. Thats all.

afrolito
If WB had done that, 4m would have been guaranteed a #1 debut. That's how you bypass radioplay, and give them a big FU in the process. I said it once, and i'll say it again, WB has done zilch to really promote HC, yet Madonna gets all the flack around here.
HolidayGuy
if 4M was withheld from release a little longer, it may have had a shot at a No. 1 peak. But, 2 weeks at No. 3 and 11 weeks in the top 10 ain't too shabby at that.
