You know, it could actually get significantly higher airplay than Hung Up and still peak lower if digital sales aren't stunning.

I think it's really hard to make any predictions. My guess is that will manage somewhere around #5 BUT we really need to see what the initial response to the official version is.

JT and Timbaland are popular, but that didn't help Duran Duran or Ashlee Simpson much.

those two lack MADONNA's own star power...

Usher is this week #1 on Billboard with almost 200.000 downloads and not huge airplay (23 mil.)

Madge can easily do the same or even better.

How many downloads got Hung up in the first week? Can someone post it please?

:chuckle:

I believe it was just 37k-39k but it did peak at almost 60k i think... that was the #1 "standard" 2 1/2 years ago...

I remember at first, Hung Up was struggling to get past the TOP 5 in its initial week but was helped by an appearance on a TV show, can't remember exactly what that was...

The thing that also helped HU though was there were lots of mixes... and it counts separately... btw, I am sure USHER have more than 23M in airplay when it went #1 last week...

23 million? Is that from just one format? Usher had 70,992,100 audience impressions (BDS) this week. On Mediabase the past day he has a total of 82 million a.i.

"Hung Up" had around 50K in sales when it was #1 for 2 weeks on the digital chart, but back then the digital market was smaller than it is now. Back then the #1 song of the week usually sold 50K-60K. Now the #1 song on the digital sales chart usually sells over 150K, and sometimes over 200K. Even if "4 Minutes" has just mediocre "Hung Up" airplay she shouldn't have trouble selling 100K in the peak sales weeks.

Hung Up got 29,550 downloads it's first week (Nov 5th)

When the song peaked at #7 on Dec 3rd on Billboard it's downloads were 47,440.

It's greatest sales week wasn't until Jan 14 th 2006 when it's sales were 68,221

"HUNG UP" (2005)

FORMATS: Digital Download, CD Maxi-Single, Double 12" Vinyl

HISTORY AND NOTES: 2003's American Life was Madonna's lowest-selling studio album of all-time. There was a great anticipation to see what she would do for her next album, and if she could make a comeback. Confessions On A Dance Floor's first single was "Hung Up", an all-out disco stomper that featured a sample of the Abba song "Gimme Gimme Gimme (A Man After Midnight)". Unfortunately, there was a lot of reluctance by the bigger radio stations in the nation to play the track. On the other hand, it was a huge success in terms of digital sales, and since Billboard now allows digital sales to be counted towards a song's position on the Hot 100, "Hung Up" made a big climb on the chart to land at a #7 peak. This was Madonna's first Top 10 hit since "Die Another Day" and tied her with Elvis Presley for being the artists with the most Top 10 hits, with 36 each. It also became one of Madonna's biggest dance hits ever, spending an impressive 4 weeks at #1 on the Club Play chart (17 weeks total, tying "Everybody" and "Holiday"/"Lucky Star" for being the Madonna singles with the most weeks on the chart), and ruling the Dance Radio Airplay chart for several weeks as well. This was also Madonna's first entry on the Pop 100 and Pop 100 Airplay charts.

What were the peak audience impressions for the COAFDF singles?

Hung Up - 26.86million

Sorry?

GT?

Jump - 5.089 million

By looking through the Jump Mediabase thread here:

http://forums.madonnanation.com/index.php?...=433&st=920

It looks like Jump's highest audience impression was 5.089 million.

GT's Medibase thread is at the old message board that we can't access anymore. We lost a lot of chart info at that board.

Z100 promoting ''4 Minutes''

Z100.com have included a 30-second preview of "4 Minutes" on the front page of their website. It is the same as the Amazon.com preview.

Z100 is the biggest radio network in the United States, so this is great promotion ahead of the official radio add date next week.

Apparently Power 106 (urban station) debuted it yesterday and cut off the song by 1.5 minutes because they were disgusted by it. But then it's not very likely urban stations will embrace the song.
