I've pre-ordered the limited numbered vinyl edition
  2. Let's face it most of us on this forum are in our 30s and 40s. Do you still get excited about new music and discover new artists? I am curious. We all know the cliche is that as we get older we stick with our old favourites and as much as I always made fun of and criticised my parents as I was growing up I do wonder if I am falling into the same natural pattern. That being said, I was going through my music collection today - particularly the CDs and vinyl - inspired by Shane's thread earlier, and I found out that I have discovered artists over the past 5-10 years. Some of them have been: Ezra Furman, John Grant, Father John Misty, HAIM (:shy: ), First Aid Kit, Laura Marling, Bats For Lashes (OK not that recent I guess) But the list is short and forever dwindling. I do worry. Where do you go for new music (if you do)?

  8. So do you still buy CDs? Vinyl? Do you buy iTunes releases? Do you stream only ? Do you do all the above? Do you still own any of your physical album collection? (And stop trying make tapes happen tapes will never happen - fuck you Kilo Mango!)

    Ballet slipper I think !
  10. I know how you feel Karby! I've digitised pretty much all my CD collection but I had a backup emergency last year and some of my files were gone and with it some of my music disappeared so I am always mega careful about getting rid of any CDs. Film DVDs I'm less precious about but my music collection is everything to me! And that does also include concert and music video DVDs!
  11. I have to say I've started getting rid of my some of my CDs and then I go back and think "Oh what ha-happened to that album" and realise I got rid of it and then I get upset. So I think I will not touch my CDs for now. However, I have about 6 full racks (over 700 CDs!) and I refuse to buy another rack which means that I am confining myself to that number as a total maximum. In a way it's been good but ultimately I think I will get rid of more.

Because those are the people that care about Revoler getting to No. 1 and Madonna having higher streaming numbers than Beyonce or Gaga. They are not fans of Madonna's music or artistry. It's some weird mud slinging diva thing. Bizarre. We went through this in the '90s and early '00s and now we're going through it again. Nothing we haven't seen.

Who cares? Let these kids have their day. I hope he supports Madonna on the Mothership Magic Method Tour 2019.

It doesn't have to be called a Greatest Hits Tour. She can still play 7-8 songs from the new album and play at least 10 old classics and by classics I don't mean Candy fucking Shop. She can throw in a couple of her own favourites if she wishes as well, that's fine, but what keeps the ticket buying folk coming back is not going to be Candy Shop featuring a choir from Cape Verde. It will be a proper version of Like A Prayer or Vogue or Holiday. And don't you forget it sister.

    New Album Means New Tour

She has pretty much toured each album since Music and so each album has had its fair share of an airing. There is absolutely no reason why she cannot play lots of old hits and still do the new album justice. The Rebel Heart Tour setlist was pretty balanced in that respect but it was let down by the lazy musical arrangements.

Exactly, that was my point precisely. In the same way that the USA is not the world, London is not the entirety of the UK. Plenty of fans would prefer to see her somewhere more local to them than to have to travel to London, book expensive hotels and take time off work.

The look is on point. The song is okay but I'm not blown away.

Sorry but I disagree. Okay, forget about Bournemouth (even though it's a 4,000 seater and her Macau thing for RHT was about the same size - yes completely different sitch but I digress). My point was that I like that she's potentially looking at going beyond the 'big capital city' gigs in Europe, it may hint at a more theatrical/artistic spectacle and possibly looking at reconnecting with her fanbase. I'm not entertaining prices - yet.

I do think that sometimes we as fans can also be a bit doom and gloom. You just cannot deny that 30 year back catalogue, whichever way the hateful press want to slice it. No one can take that away from her. Let's put it this way: Mylene Farmer's 'regional' European tour in 2013 played 39 shows in 5 countries (!!) in Europe to an audience of over 550,000. Rebel Heart Tour was 82 shows across 4 continents, and she played to just over 1 million fans. See where I'm going with this? Madonna could easily go for 50-60 shows just across Europe and the USA and play to about a million fans..
