Proving to be the best piece of political satire in years

Are there any Trump supporters on here?
I lurk in the political section sometimes but rarely post.
I never supported or liked him as a human being but I did have some empathy why his backers felt the way they did. Was willing to give his presidency a chance but
I merely answer like this as Id be very surprised if you get an honest answer to that question even if there are any backers on the site.

Something of a different perspective, I wonder how a Romney presidency might have changed the current Russia situation. Not that it would have been better but Obama downplayed Russia as a threat on the 2012 Presidential elections.
This clip was from the crisis in 2014
Russia under Putin always seemed nasty. I still recall Madonna standing up for Pussy Riot in 2012 -
Soccer or football never really quite took off in America. Baseball I think would be considered the National Pastime here like football is to the rest of the world. I followed it a lot growing up but overtime it just got boring. Astronomical payrolls of players and over use of analytics kind of ruined the sport imo.
I'm not an expert at all on football but I'm surprised these owners wouldn't have had their financials all in order if they were gonna go through with this league. Plus I mean did they not know how poorly this would all be received?

Sure.
Call me a prude but I don't use it/never have. But more or less I think along the lines of as long as you're not doing harm to somebody somehow all's good. Plus legalizing certain drugs I think can take way some of the appeal to teenagers. Like look I'm just doing this to look cool kind of thing

Somewhat ironically Buffalo, NY is nicknamed the City of Good Neighbors. I'm familiar with the city being there several times as well as Niagara Falls outside of it (very beautiful). And actually for the most part I usually found people there to be friendly.
But my God that video was awful. No need for pushing that man. Cops just acted like animals

OMG I got an email saying they knew my password ( to a now defunct email account but it was accurate ) and unless I transfer 2000 bitcoins to him he would release my
masturbation video which sadly I don't have any .
In Thailand we are going to ease the lockdown. We are down to single digit infected cases .The curfew and state of emergency will remain till end of May but they will allow certain businesses to reopen ( Malls , non air con restaurants etc ) with strict measures . We will see how that works.
Yeah it’s a little scary at first when they have a password that was legit at one time. But then you step away and rationalize it and check the web
This part of the U.S was hit hard. I think the peak is finally over but still gotta quarantine. I have to wonder soon with the weather getting nicer and people dealing with cabin fever if they’ll ignore all the risks
be safe

I got two of those. Absurd scam that sadly can frighten many people.
I just got my second one as well. I'm half tempted to reply to them to post the "stuff" at this point in my life assholios as I really have no shame anymore. lol

I got one of these scam e-mails this weekend:
They'll claim to have malware infected on your computer and will send out videos of you watching porn among other graphic things to all your contacts. It's an obvious scam but what was a little scary is they did use an old password of mine I used to use. At some point some site most have been compromised I used it on.
But yeah if anybody here gets an sextortion e-mail asking to pay $2000 to some britcoin account please ignore it. There is a special place in hell for someone who would try to take advantage of somebody's non rational thinking in these times we live in. This is what the scammers are hoping for

From my experience this disease seems to be hitting the elderly hard, especially the ones with dementia. I got a horrible call yesterday from someone’s relative whose just about too die from it. Awful day yesterday.
Perhaps a decrease in those diagnoses?
-
Sounds good. Just hopefully sooner versus later. It’s all a bit much now

Being something of a loner even before the pandemic, this one I appreciate

It's difficult to be optimistic but for me it's the only way to cope . That's why I thought in February that Corona was a flu and we shouldn't overreact. I hope I'm not so wrong this time!!!!!
Agree.
Only positive I can take from this is someone once told me adversity can prove to yourself and others what you’re capable of.
We’ll get there

I’ve always thought paramedics/ EMT workers were way underpaid even before this outbreak. I’ve taken a CPR class in the past at work but commend people who handle those situations on a day to day basis. Especially without panicking. I’m not sure how I’d cope.
Care managers as well for the elderly I’ve always thought are way underpaid. Many now are in the front lines of this and can’t use social distancing.
If there is the slightest bit of silver lining to this all is the appreciation for people who provide these services.

Thank you and please know my prayers are with you as well. @ThomasW thank you so much!
i just can’t talk too much about this because it’s just too much at this time. I’m on conference calls all day long, the challenges our hospitals are facing is unbelievable
I guess positive results are inevitable now. Deep breaths, don’t worry about things you can’t control, and think of all the other good work you do.
We’ll get through it

I work in a hospital in NJ. I am not frontline patient facing, but I am aware and can visual see what is going on around me. It has consumed me, my emotions, my anxiety. I never thought I would live through something like this. My co workers are truly heros.
Same here I work in healthcare. I'm not frontline patient facing as well but close enough to see/hear all that's going on.
I share your very sentiments. You'll be in my prayers along with all the patients/residents and all here

I work in healthcare so forced too work during this. Washing the hands a lot.
No visitors allowed

Hanks and his wife to me are no different than any other poor person that has the virus and or dealing with it. But it does sort of make it I guess feel more real when someone most people “know” has it
-
If there’s anything positive to try to take from this, being quarantined isn’t exactly a bad thing for someone with introverted/misanthropic tendencies. I know I can and have both at times. Let’s you reflect on things.
Be safe and careful out there

One case now reported within 100 miles of me. Well I’d still say I have a much greater chance of getting harmed or killed driving too work everyday. People drive like maniacs by me
Not gonna stop my life. But conscious of the virus for sure

Sometimes her albums take to time to grow on me. American Life I thought was okay at the time but have a lot more appreciation for it now.
I think the same with Madame X. I like it overall but time I think will be kind too it.

Lovely song

Is my favorite song on the album. Like the way it sounds plus its good to listen to every now and then when I'm battling my own demons.
Biden / U.S. Politics thread

Politics aren't my strong suit but I follow things every now and then and lurk here from time to time. Some of my thoughts presently:
Hillary took a lot of states in the old rust belt area for granted in 2016 : Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, and Indiana. It looks like at the moment Biden isn't polling well at all with the Hispanic vote. A group that always votes democratic. That one 1st poll I posted below even has Trump leading against him presently with this demographic. I do not think he should take the Hispanic or really any working people's votes for granted but I have the feeling he is. If you're living paycheck to paycheck and feel overworked most days you're not going to want to listen to Democrats harping on about democracy and January 6th. That day was bad but the reality is it doesn't keep the majority of Americans up at night with what they're concerned about.

Interesting article as well imo. Ruy Teixiera's author of Where Have all The Democrats Gone. He touches on identity politics presently.
