So sad... But I kinda know the feeling, my father died few days before MDNA was released and my brother died right after Rebel Heart was released. That's why I am confused when I am listening to them: happy or sad?
Wishing Julie all the best.
Can relate to both of you, @zephyralexxx. My papa passed away on the day "Ghostown" was released. I'm still dealing with it but I'm ok now. Haven't bought the RH cd nor streamed it on spotify. But nearly a year after his death, I saw the RH concert. And Madonna for the first time since stanning her in 1984. Somehow, her magnificence took away some of the pain.
MX, on the other hand, I stream daily. Such a piece of art.

Clearly she’s seen it, she thinks it’s fucked up and she’s entitled to her opinion just like anyone else. We don’t need to start questioning her, or worse criticizing her, because we don’t like it.
And she's given a free pass to give critical comments on a video when (a) there was ample warning about its graphic content, (b) madonna and her team have been in touch with several orgs, and (c) when did madonna ever say that the pulse incident was the direct inspiration for the video?
any reaction to her reaction is no way less valid!

The video is indeed disturbing and petrifying, especially if one has just woken up. It's more than an art piece or a cautionary tale. It's a public service message.

I mean I agree that she should do what she wants. But if THIS backfires, it could be devastating. I guess I just have to hope the director knows what he’s doing. If I was a Pulse survivor I might feel a bit uncomfortable watching a video depicting a massacre at a disco.
So, are you suggesting that she shelve the single and video release of GC? Or have a watered down video a la AL? I believe this was already shot months ago.

As it should be. Take a bow, Madame X. More # 1s to come!

I got that sense from the NYT profile. She was devastated and had no desire after that cycle ended to make another album. Can’t blame her. RH leak must have been the worst for her.
we’re so lucky. She could stop at any time.
thank you to Portugal and her great artists for inspiring MX to record wonderful music once more. (who wouldn't suffer a great meltdown if his/her record had been sabotaged by a so-called "fan?" 'so relieved that the criminal has been punished.) the change in location and her immersion with the local arts and culture began her "healing" process.
and, yes, we should be grateful that MX has reached another creative peak. and is touring the world once again with a newfound sense of purpose.

This is disturbing me that she was considering not recording another album until Lisbon inspired her! Did you guys interpret that to mean ever, or just not for a while? Yikes!
Love how she thinks of the songs by as her babies but managed to pick Extreme Occident and God Conteol as particular favorites.
Didn't she mention in an earlier interview (could be with nyt) that the RH leaks devastated her and put her off from making music/recording again?

Signing autographs and being with the fans is what I love to see. Madonna means so much to a lot of people so these events means the world to us. When Madonna comes to town it’s a happy place - singing, dancing, laughing and just fun.
She needs to keep reconnecting with us in whatever way possible. Can't overstate the importance of symbiosis at this juncture of her spectacular career: feeding us the good energy that we constantly give her.
And a happy Madonna bodes well for the Pride performance.

she's having a grand time with the hosts and fans. and she looks fab as always.

a mash-up with "vogue" and "deeper and deeper" will be gay disco heaven!

And more interesting as well, since the song isn't disco at all
Correct! Infectious beat + wistful message = funana

thought so, too. 'til i checked with geniuslyrics.com. "disco dancing" is much cooler imo.

I was sorely disappointed with GC at first; I felt the sound was messy and overblown. But it has grown on me upon repeated listening. It's like an acquired taste, really, and can be addictive later on. So, I can't wait for the video and how it will enhance my appreciation for the song.

the editorial board of this shitty site is equally guilty as the mimi fantard/hack.

A Crave or IDSIF performance would be fab!

@VogueMusic This video deserves all the accolades it has been getting. To highlight the video's message, Madonna the Celebrity prudently takes a backseat to Madonna the Artist and Activist.
