Guy wisiting her in Lisbon gave me some hope the album is about to be done. What do you think?

Agree. Guy usually  listens to her work and provides feedback and also starts planning out release strategy based on her visual concepts/ideas. He is not shy in sharing his views if the songs are not standouts. He is also the one coordinating with his team recording time and collaboration agreements with producers and other artists. Wonder if he is suggesting more collaborations or if she is asking for more time.

Hope she is taking all the time she needs to come up with a conceptual buttoned up album at the quality of Ray of Light and with a list of songs that are lyrically universally relatable by all listeners of all ages.

I also hope for epic landscape reach videos (of Portugal and Malawi for instance) with lots of colors (e.g., green/yellows/pink). Rich in color as BIM (away from her typical dark, black and white videos of late) that are so depressing for me middle-age, I can imagine how a millennial would feel watchin one (not a video they will play on repeat for sure) no matter how fresh musically and catchy in bits the song sounds.

Oh yeah, Madonna is over. I just love it when entitled gays with absolutely no clue on how music business works  flaunt such statements. Girl, unless you’ve been living under a rock, this isn’t anything new! She’s been deemed “over” since her “outrageous” Like a Virgin performance. And then she was called “old” and was asked to retire during her Blond Ambition tour. I remember going into a book store in 2005, asking for the Ladies Home Journal magazine with Madonna on the cover, and the overweight Queen of an employee at that store gave me this sarcastic remark; “oh Madonna is over hun. It all Britney now”. The amount of annoyance and just pure resentment I felt about that statement. I mean, the Living Legend, the Icon, the one who sells tours on top of everyone, the one is basically as famous as God!! And you have the nerve to suggest she’s done. Do you need Nicki Minaj to say it again to you?! There’s only one Queen, and that’s Madonna!! Bitch!!

Update on M's sessions so far that we know of :

*1 week in January - Starrah & Billboard (London)

    *1 week in March - ? (LA)

*2 weeks in April - Mirwais (London)

    *1 week in May - ? (NYC)

*2 weeks in June - Mirwais (Lisbon)

Don't know about March. M was here in LA to promote MDNA. Not sure she had studio time after MDNA and the Oscar hosted event.

But, about the first week in May: she did have an exchange with Diplo in April (see link) about a Kanye West comment - Dragon Energy - and about Diplo finding his on May 8th (the day after Met Gala). Wondering if the two of them had studio time in NY that day. They were both present at the Gala.

session 3? Anyone know how many sessions she usually does?

I think a session for M is usually around a week of work. I am gathering this based on comments Diplo and Avicii did in 2014. Each one of their session was one week. Diplo had two. Not sure how many Avicii had. Now, she also had sessions with kanye west at that time.  Also, Billboard was separate. So, I would say, a lot. I bet she will make just as many demos as she did last time and than rework each until she comes up with the final list.

This round she had at least one separate session with Starrah in January.

wow I like this!!! call me excited!

:inlove: Thank you for sharing. Could not find it. WOW, LOVE this sound.  Portuguese and African bits.

I read somewhere months ago that the album is to be a cross between Bedtime Stories and Ray of Light. I can see similarities in this song sound to Bedtime, and I bet the lyrics will match the complexity of Ray of Light.

I think a new record deal  will be in discussion after the music labels will see the sales of this album.

I would think she needs a record label to push the album out. Introscope did it for the last two albums. Prior was Warner Bros. (they actually did a great campaign always and promoted here heavily).

She needs to release at least 2 singles prior to the album IF she wants them to sell, cause no one would buy the second single if you already have the album. Hopefully they will be great songs with creative and expensive videos.

Agree, at least two videos before the album is out.  This is how it's done this daisy, a new album campaign starts at least three/four months in advance with a single out every two months. Nicki has two videos/songs out now at the same time and one more in the can before the album drops in August. Katy Perry had three videos with complementary lyrics videos out and Taylor Swift had two videos and four lyrics videos before the album dropped last November.

Oh yes, hope we get some kind of lyrics videos for each single as well. Question is, is her management team able to convince her of the new way to roll out a new album?

On a adjacent topic, does anyone know if Madonna signed up with any new record label yet? I know her contract with Live Nations and Interscope ended years ago. And, I bet she is still with Oseary - Maverick/Live Nations Entertainment - for management.

  9. I don't see a Madonna single being released any time soon.

She needs a big music awards show to introduce her music, so the sooner I would expect her to have a song/video out is early August for a MTV awards live performance. That would give her time to prep for a November album release and premier a new song/video with a live performance at the American Music Awards.

2018 American Music Awards to Air Live Tuesday, October 9

On February 13, 2018 – ABC and dick clark productions announced today that the “2018 American Music Awards,” the world’s largest fan-voted awards show, will broadcast live on TUESDAY, OCTOBER 9 (8:00–11:00 p.m. EST), on ABC.

Or,  maybe a NIcki M featured collaboration in August presented at MTV awards and her first single in October at the AMA.

You forgot to add couple more songs to your favorites from this album.

Love Profusion is many people’s favorite. You can feel her emotion as she sings about all the confusion and illusion in this world and how she basically looks up to love that connects all things and keeps this universe together. Love is God and God is Love.

Intervention was inspired by Roco’s birth. You can hear the emotion in her voice and how tender she sounds when she expresses her unconditional love in this song. I really can’t understand where you see “strange” or “uninspired”.

My least favorite song, which I think sounds flat and uninspired is actually Mother and Father, which you happen to enjoy.

But hollywood, I’m So Stupid, Love Profusion, Nothing Fails, Intervention, and Easy Ride are some of the best songs she’s ever done! As I’ve mentioned before, the production is so good that the songs still sound modern today! Her voice is clear and full. The lyrics are meaningful and clever. You not seeing that really puzzles me. But I guess to each their own.

Bottom line, I think Mirwais did an incredible, fantastic job on most songs with Madonna! And I’m extremely excited to hear what they’ve cooked up together this time around!

I fully agree!!!

Can you imagine these people in 1987-88:

“oh I don’t want her to work with bray and Leonard again. They’re so boring and out of ideas and jimmy jimmy and love makes the world go round are just terrible. Please madonna, not these people again!”

thank god madonna never listens to these people.

    Spoiler

I would rather have a "basic" pop song than one with Kabbalah references no one will get.  Maybe I am the problem I hear her working these current producers I just want a good pop song at least on par with other artists they have worked with,  not an angry album full of religious references, or talking about fame.

Agree with you; I hope it's not religious references again or ego driven... hope there is more focus on the music with this album; she always has brilliant lyrics.

  13. Unless she comes with a single this weekend, I think the single will come out in July/August for an MTV premier.

I think Madonna needs to have three singles out by the time the Album comes out. This is typical now. She could do what Nicky Minaj is doing. Drop two videos at the same time and focus all radio/web promotion and talk show appearances on the official first single itself (the second video is guaranteed to get lots of views by default and solidify the sound of the new album and increase album presales).

I think she needs to perform at the MTV awards,  MTV European awards,  American Music Awards and of course the Grammys.

In  US, I hope she does lots of live performances on the ideal hot musical and political shows - Jimmy Fallon, James Corden, Jimmy Kimmel,  and Stephen Colbert (if the song is political in nature, he has a massive loyal following). She must do SNL this fall - it's a must!!! She needs to do live performances on the morning shows and of course on Ellen DeGeneres show.

I do hope for new Madonna edgy hair styles looks for each video (back to black, blue, and pink). For talk shows, I hope  she focuses her conversations on the music, stays edgy/political, light and funny as she can.

Personally, I hope there is a Christmas/Holiday type of song/video coming out around the holidays - those are always popular if done right. But whatever she comes out with I am sure it will blow me away as always!!!!
