I understand the appealing of this tragedy in news coverage but still I agree with you.

THOUSANDS of migrants die in the Mediterranean sending help singns and governments don’t send rescue teams. That will not pop up in our Twitter feed. Just last Thursday hundreds died, most pregnant women and little children in front of Greece coasts.

It is so clear we live in District One of the Hunger Games. We only cover rich people tragedies.

It's surprising that people with so much money sometimes can be so stupid. If you are doing this kind of risky "adventure" don't you check previously the history of the company you are signing your life to?

it's not that surprising. when you spend such an indecent amount of money for a half-day expedition, you imagine that the mere fact of being able to pay this amount of money guarantees you automatically a premium and safe service.

  3. The non-stop coverage of this miscellaneous news since monday is appalling. Extremely wealthy people, looking for big thrills to occupy their life of privilege, to live their “best life”, pay a fortune and sign a contract indicating repeatedly the risks of death of the expedition. therefore, they knew the risks and will have to “live” with the disastrous consequences. There are no martyrdoms here (except maybe the 19-year-old son who should have been protected by his father and not dragged by him to his death). If the news and social medias searches real martyrs, they can talk about the poor migrants drowning every week without any media coverage and in complete indifference. But that won't happen because they are POOR.

yet men can wear less and that's fine. they can be comfortable and wear next to nothing at the beach, while women have to suffer in the heat. fuck that.

This. The day they force EVERYONE to cover their bodies in the heat, the world will only have to respect their ancient values. But since as always this will only target women, I tell them to go fuck themselves (which will probably do them the most good by the way).

  5. I hope no one seriously believes those ridiculous ratings numbers on Twitter for this funeral. :rotfl: It was an ordinary monday in Canada. No one was talking about this funeral (apart from the media), no one was watching this funeral, sigh of relief from just about everyone that this masquerade was finally over. She was a significant historical figure of the last century by her longevity on the throne, i give her that. nothing more, nothing less. In an ideal world, Canada would change its constitution to finally get rid of the monarchy. The majority of the population  desire it but our cultural and identity conflicts between Canada and Quebec mean that the federal government will never dare to reopen the constitution since it will have to include compromises for province of Quebec. Going back to the excess of everything about the queen we just went through, I still can't believe people lined up for 10, 12 or 14 hours to spend 10 seconds in front of a stranger's grave. :doh:Ridiculous.

Exactly! This "let's blame ourselves the democrats" narrative needs to stop. Voter turnout has been at an all time high.

It's not our collective fault that the entire U.S. system was designed to make sure slave-owning states with low "white" voting populations don't lose power.

If there are specific swing states / districts where we have lost seats in congress because Democrats decided not to vote because the candidate wasn't "woke" enough, then let's talk about that (we won't because it's not a thing).

    This.

Since 2016, a slice of American progressives have been spending their time attacking the Democratic Party and their politics instead of devoting their energy to fighting the real enemy, the Republican Party and more precisely its fundamentalist slice which has taken control and is reshaping the country at frightening speed. In a two-party system, the lesser evil to block this movement is to vote and support the Democratic party even though we all know they are not a very progressive party, but in the context of the American political system they are the lesser evil . Anyway, this discussion was relevant in 2016, today it is already too late. The Republicans have reshaped the political system so that they have control and do what they want.

Reading the last stories shared here it’s a wonder humanity even discovered the fire.

Indeed. Seriously, all the participants who are interviewed all seem to speak without teeth and with partial paralysis of the mouth. They are the demonstration of the failure of our education system for several decades.

  8. Don't talk to me about those toothless morons who have been ruining our lives for the last 2 years. The media, politicians and the police are responsible for an unforgivable complacency letting this tiny minority of citizens ruin the life of the majority. The freedom of speech has long been exceeded with them. Let the police do their job by making arrests and seizing the trucks. In Quebec, we are lucky because the number of morons was modest and the whole thing ended (for the moment) yesterday at the end of the day. In Ottawa, on the other hand, the citizens have been prisoners of these morons for 2 weeks.

  9. As long as governments and the media treat these rich athletes and celebrities as if they are gods, they will continue to live as if the rules that apply to the rest of the world do not apply to them. But obviously it's totally utopian to think that this can change.

Oh please. The Catholic Church are the very LAST folks who should be talking about the concern for children. They're just pissed that more and more folks generationally are not interested in the Christian model of the nuclear family.

Then, there's like over 8 billion people on the planet...more than what the planet can actually provide for (and whose remaining resources are pretty much the basis for all on-going world conflict). Then there's the issue of what we are doing to this planet, and where it's going (politically/climate change/etc.). The last thing this planet needs is more children, particularly those being had just for the sake of it.

I understand why people who truly want children may want one that's actually biologically from them, but I've always found it incredibly hypocritical that we put all this massive focus on pushing for animal adoption...but that same sentiment is never given to human life. Why not take that sentiment and put it towards pushing humanity, particularly straight people, to actually care for all the children unwanted and cast aside.

Then there's the issue that so many can't actually afford to raise children.

    This.
