  1. "Crazy" was the first song that stood out for me as I was playing "Madame X" for the first time.  The flow, the vocals (Like a Prayer album vocals), the 2nd verse ("my GOD look at me now"), the old school style, the bridge, everything - this song is just brilliant.

  2. Did anyone go to the store yet in NYC?  I wanted to go this weekend but I wasn't feeling up to it - I just went into the city last weekend and I'm trying to get over being sick.  I heard some musicians from the tour were at the store yesterday.  Also, did they have the black shirt with Madonna and her guitar on it?  I also really like the Madame X t-shirt with her hands on it.  I'd love to see some pictures of the inside of the store and some of the merchandise (not just live nation pictures of it - but real pictures of it).

  3. I "Like" every song on the album, but I agree with those of you who say it's not really an album where you can just throw on a track or two and then listen to something else.  Madame X is more of an album that needs to be listed to all at once.  There aren't a lot of tracks that make me want to put it on that scream "feel good" "dance" "carefree" - the lyrics are heavy/deep, and even something like "God Control" - which has a "Hung Up" style beat but does not make me want to dance because of the lyrical content.  This is not a complaint though - it's just the way I feel.  I also find "Madame X" heard to sing a long to as I do not speak the other language(s) on the album which also makes it hard to relate to.  That being said, some of my favorite moments on the album are those moments in other language(s).  I find myself listening to the album on and off but it has more replay value than say, "Hard Candy" because it is something different - it's just not keeping my interest like "Confessions" did or "MDNA" - although I would say it's all around better than "MDNA" - I just find it darker.

I appreciate Madonna's artistry and the work she put into this album - the documentary was really great to watch and to see how the album came to be.

Exactly. In Madonna's case, I don't see why this is seen as a bad thing. You have the option to NOT buy the CD.

But yes, let's slam her because fans that just paid $300+ for some concert tix to see her live decided to shell out an extra $15 for the CD. Just an easy excuse to bash her.

I’m curious about this....I did not pay extra for the cd’s with my tickets...they came with it.  I declined paying for them as they were the standard versions and I was getting the Deluxe but I still got them anyway.

I’m really nervous about this video. Not going to deny it.

So am I.  I think her message is important but it may be hard to watch.  I love the look and the clips we’ve seen though.  It’s just such a sensitive thing to possibly re-enact in the video.  I love the song and hope it’s a success.  I wish I wasn’t nervous about the video and just excited instead.

Okay everything was awesome until that last bit................ My stomach turned. It might be incredible or truly horrible depending on how it’s handled.

I have to agree with this.  I was turned off at the last scene and my stomach turned as well.  I really don’t know if I can watch something so horrifying if it’s very violent or worse, a re-enactment.

    Loved the rest though.

Right — possibly! As @horn pointed out, you can order the same thing from the UK or (possibly) Japan.

In terms of the music, you should be able to get it digitally. (Box set or 2CD will have these tracks, as well.) If you want a physical copy with the “I Rise”/blonde braids cover, the Target or other exclusive versions in other countries are the only way to get it, it seems.

To be honest, what I want the most is the 2CD hardcover book that is an import right now through Amazon - but I have no idea what's on it and I l don't want to order it (as it's $30) until I know.  I already have the iTunes deluxe pre-ordered and i'm getting two standards with my concert tickets.  I just want the easiest way to get all of the official released tracks.

Darn! I almost pre-ordered it last night, but was researching all the options again — looking at international Amazon choices for the box set and Japanese imports ... and it got late, so I just said, “oh, I’ll sleep on it.” Can’t believe the pre-order is sold out a week before. Irritating.

As for the tracks, I think it’s just what others have said: “Extreme Occident” and “Looking for Mercy.” On release date, that is the exclusive physical CD option to get those tracks in the US. The box set doesn’t come out until the following week, and the 2CD is an import only. (Yes, those tracks are on the deluxe digital, but the only CD that will have it on release day in the US is Target.)

Ah, ok - not as exclusive as I thought - as long as I have the all of the available tracks, i'm good.

I miss the good ol' days when there was one version of the album.

True, I do like one one version but this increases sales....duplicate purchases (or more) of the same release with one or two extra tracks on it and a different cover.

I’d be happy if everything was at least easy to understand and obtain.  The box set or any special edition isn’t even being sold on her website here in the US.  I decided to just buy the iTunes deluxe version and worry about other versions later after it’s released and I can actually pick the one I want without guessing.

    Yes. It's available separately.

I hope it it will be.  I love the guitar cover and I want the book.  I’m in the US though. It looks like a Japan release as a stand-alone option.  The box set so far isn’t even being sold here — yet.  I already pre ordered the deluxe on iTunes.  If I can’t get the release with the book I’ll just stick to the digital version and maybe buy a physical copy for my Madonna collection at a later date.

  11. Unfortunately i'm underwhelmed.  There are elements and parts that I like but then parts that drag (Maluma's verses don't do anything for me).  Now, when Madonna and Maluma sing together, I start to feel it again.  It does pick up mid-song but after listening to it all day, I don't think i'm going to have it in rotation much.  I LOVE the album covers, the name/theme and the everything else.  It's just not a go-to track for me.

  12. If this song belonged on any tour post Girlie Show - it's CT! I was really looking forward to this song being on the setlist and disappointed that it was cut! CT could have benefited from another hit song/classic and this re-invention was perfection - still had the same melody and some original elements just a little updated - and the robotic "Let the DJ shake you" amazing! I hope the song shows up on the next tour's setlist as a permanent track.

  13. I agree. The gypsy guys sound unintentionally funny and just ruin the whole thing for me.

I agree - I don't like the S&S version at all and it's nowhere near as good as CT's. The S&S version is hard to listen to and I don't even remember it having much choregraphy - I skip this one a lot. Yeah, it is similar to CT in the way it's done but the gypsy guys were not good in this song/version, in my opinion.

  14. It is one of the best performances - This is how ballads should be performed! I love it when there are theatrical elements to a ballad rather than just standing in one place - I mean, yeah, that's fine, but there's nothing like a theatrical performance to really bring out the lyrics. The fact that "Love Don't Live Here Anymore" was acknoweledged on this tour just put's it over the edge as one of the best! I also like how the staircase is at the end of the stage and how it comes down from the ceiling - perfection! More technical than just having the steps on the main stage. Oh, and how Madonna walks down the stairs to the beat of LDLHA - step by step!
