I remember the press not really making a big deal about her vocals on the 1998 VMAs, which I found odd at the time. Imagine if we had social media at the time. She would have been flame-broiled.

At that time nobody expected a great live voice from her but a good show and she delivered.

At the Eurovision about 200 million viewers watched for three hours funny camp acts with some great voices. Everyone in the audience expected Madonna to outperform that with her show. But her voice at the beginning of Like a Prayer sounded worse than that of the worst Eastern European singers in the competition.

After the first horrible seconds everything was ruined. It left a lasting impression that hardly anyone paid attention to what came afterwards. As I said, she should leave that terrible chapter behind and move on to promote more commercial songs. Maybe it would be good if she made something like MTV Unplugged, but she would rather have the show pre-recorded to prevent further catastrophes.

"There is no such thing as bad publicity" Maybe she'll prove it is true once again?

After all, she is currently receiving massive attention again and could take advantage of it, if the album is truly such a masterpiece as it currently seems. I think she should get over it and focus on promoting commercial singles.

I always thought it would be cool for her to do an intimate "unplugged" sort of event. A live band, some guest musicians, no dancing or theatrics.
Upload the whole thing to youtube.

It wouldn't make it better: Everyone will say that she has edited the vocal recording of the video, as she did with her uploaded Eurovision video.

I watched this and the video she posted of the performance was so distorted. I usually like vocal coach but she isn't a great at observation. In her Madonna Best Vocals post she failed to spot that the performance of Frozen was her miming to a backing track. So she's not that great in my opinion!!!?!

She's a vocal coach and not a detective to spot perfect lip-syncing. She said the Vogue vocals were great and that's right. She said Madonna didn't hit one note on Like a Prayer and she is right again. The woman is a Madonna fan and praises Madonna if she delivers good singing (Sooner or Later).

Second, I hate fake news so would like to confirm: was Madonna actually flat and they tampered with and replaced her vocals for the upload, or was it a bad mix and they adjusted that for the upload?

The sound in the new video is not adjusted, it's completely exchanged with another voice recording, maybe from the rehearsals.

So I watched the official video on VEVO and I really don’t understand the backlash she is getting.

LAP was a little flat but not worthy of all this hate!

She sounds great on the VEVO video but that's not the live broadcasted vocal sound of her performance.

And anyway, booking Madonna then being shocked about controversy is like eating a kilo of ice cream a day and being shocked you've gotten fat.

The organizers and fans obviously expected something more cheerful and uplifting, like her performances at the Super Bowl, Live 8, Grammys or Billboard Music Awards, to party at this camp pop festival.

I do not have to relax ... I said Terrible because I think those German  headlines are very unfair

The German media loves Madonna because her name sells papers and she is still the biggest star on earth. If she causes controversy they love to headline it and if she triumphs and shines they celebrate her. She didn't shine this time.

But please, stop gloating with those German papers trying to hide the fact that the biggest embarrassment of the night WAS GERMANY!

Almost everyone in Germany hated the German participants. They only participated because they came to the contest through questionable bills of the broadcoaster. Unfortunately, this embarrassment does not really make Madonna's performance any better.

It is actually. The fans (as usual) were the ones who pointed out the singing and vocals, and the rest is history.

The headlines of the biggest newspapers in Germany:

    Queen of Pop dethrones herself
Appearance of the Queen of Pop causes horror
The Madonna shock at the ESC. Can she really not sing?
A low point of her career. Maybe even the endpoint
Madonna's failed performance: embarrassing and political
This ESC has ruined Madonna's career
No one sings as bad as Madonna

Its nowhere near the CATASTROPHICAL event people are making it out to be but yeah. M was always praised for her amazing performances and seeing ppl say it was boring (among other vicious shading thrown at her)is a huge blow to our ego as fans.

It wasn't a catastrophe, but it was disappointing from the weak beginning, went on with the terror interlude and ended with an expressionless Quavo appearance. The performance was a massive downgrade of her beautiful Met gala show. Madonna didn't want to spread fun and party mood, she wanted to preach and kick many asses. Well, that's what she has done and nobody needs to be surprised about the reactions.

  12. My friends and family (who aren't Madonna fans) are defending her. They are shocked about the hateful media and say: She's the queen of pop and isn't perfect. She has achieved so much that it is rather unimportant that she did not make new friends or fans with her bizarre performance.

If Madonna is happy with it it's okay for me, but I prefer to displace it like the Brit Awards 2015. It doesn't make you a worse Madonna fan if you don't understand or love all of her actions. It's just a pity that she has no one in her environment to better advise her.

Why does everything have to be fun and celebratory all of the time?

She showed that side 3 weeks ago in another performance. This was about something else for her......venue be damned. I expect GP to maybe be confused by that but her biggest fans not getting that?? Come on. Seriously? We are talking about the same Madonna right?

You have the biggest camp pop audience on earth to promote for your brandnew album - and then you give them a half-baked version of LaP, a politcal speech and a song they are obviously not interested in? That doesn't sound very clever.
