so it seems like he cleaned up mirwais's english, which is more like translating than "co-writing,"

If it were that easy, you could use Google Translate to translate foreign books and songs. We all know that this does not work very well, because translation is a complex and creative process, especially when it comes to lyrical texts that are not only subject to a certain rhythm, but also make substantive demands.

To use a quote: "Translation is an art because the translator tries to find out what is meant in one language, and then basically paints a picture of what is meant in the other language." It is simply ignorant not to appreciate the art of translating lyrical texts and pretend that everyone is capable of doing so, because that's absolutely not the case.

The Sticky & Sweet Tour DVD included all those samples, so surely that would have cost more than using the whole LDLHA performance for the RH Tour? Especially as M recorded LDLHA and used the music from her own recording.

Some licenses are cheaper than others. I'm not that familiar with copyright, but as I've heard, live performances are much cheaper for licensing than commercial usage. There is no plausible reason, why this highlight of the show (also vocally!) did not appear on DVD/CD, as the licenses were too expensive.

She has offered him credit. He took it. Now is broke and wants 1% of her tour profits LOL.

If he gets co-writer credits she must pay him percentages for the album and the tour. I guess that's the reason why she used only a short snippet of LDLHA on the RH tour and cutted it from the RH DVD/CD.

why selectively only quote half a sentence, to make a completely irrelevant point?

Because his contribution to the song is absolutely essential, if it's true that he co-wrote the intro. Even if he "only" translated it, it's shaping the song because it's his own words that Madonna speaks. It is common to name anyone who has co-written a song and no one seriously doubts that Casey's contribution was used.

Casey Spooner definitely seems to have some serious issues lately, he’s been coming  across a bit mentally unstable if not completely unhinged and/or drug-fucked.

It doesn't matter if he has serious issues. He undoubtedly co-wrote the song and deserves co-writing credits and proper payment. GC is one of the most important songs of the album decisively shapes Madonna's show.

  6. My favourites at the moment:

    1. Looking For Mercy
    2. Crazy
    3. I Rise (Laibert Remix)
    4. Crave (Benny Benassi Remix)
    5. Extreme Occident (Marco Sartori Remix)

I would have liked the album a lot more if the production had been more danceable, but GC, CB and IDSIF don't give me the real feeling.

Wasn't she hinting at a video but Anitta didn't respond? Could she have just scrapped the idea as she couldn't do it with her?

I guess there once was a blink of a moment were a video was possible but Madonna was too busy preparing her tour and had other releases in her schedule. Maybe she thought that another latin song release isn't useful after the under performance of Medellin. I think the song would have been extremely well received by young people.

Faz Gostoso had the potential to be a legit hit. I've never seen so many non-fans or even casual fans rave over a Madonna song. It's the 2nd most streamed Madame X song on Spotifty for a reason.

I guess we will never know now.

I think it's the same thing that happened to Avicii's amazing Rebel Heart: Her ego is too big to take one step behind another and she prefers to miss a massive worldwide hit, rather than others saying she just jumped on another bandwagon. From the artistic point of view, she may be right, from the commercial point of view, it is unwise, considering that she should use every potential hype at the moment.

Crave had more of a lingering presence on charts in the long run while God Control pretty much came and went. It could have been another number one on the dance chart but given the message of the song, how a radio edit would butcher the song and the whole political thing; it's fair to say it wouldn't have left much of an impact aside from riling up conservatives on their hypocrisy about guns. It deserved more mixes for sure but doubt it would have done anything substantial than what it already did.

Crave is a great song and it's a nice surprise it's doing so well on the US charts. God Control has the same homemade problems as the single American Life, but it's a pity because it's such a catchy song. I hope the remixes for God Control (and I Don't Search?) come out soon. I am quite satisfied with the remixes of this era. They brighten up the rather dark album.

Were dark ballet and God control considered releases eligible for the category? That might be why?

I'm not sure if they are eligible. I think the record company must submit the nominations.

Eligible for Short Form Music Video:
Music videos, released for sale to the public for the first time during the awards eligibility year.
Music video programs that made a first appearance on broadcast or cable television during the awards eligibility year and which are synchronous or approximately synchronous to a commercially released recording.
Individual tracks from compilation or sampler video album packages by individual or various artists which were released for the first time during the current or previous awards eligibility year.

Why is God Control, Dark Ballet left out? Not submitted for Pop album? Who's planning this? Sorry to say its kinda lousy.

Medellin is a beautiful video but Dark Ballet and God Control would've been award worthy as best videos of the year. I guess they decided to keep a little bit of buzz on Medellin because they know Madonna is getting ignored at the Grammys.

MNEK remix up to #45 on French iTunes!

Madame Ciccone is a troll, to tease the fans with Tracy Young's great remix - and then to release that MNEK stuff.
