I repeat what I have said many times before. The media (the so called liberal media) needs to grow some balls. They need to kick out all the commentators and make news again. Report the facts, don't transport opinion. And most above all don't even try to be "fair and balanced" when the very media outlet that created that slogan is anything but. Don't give those right wing people a voice. All they do is to pivot and detract from the story. They don't want to support the story. Their intention is to devalue the story. Look back, how they got away with telling outright lies or alternate facts as they would like to call it now. For some reason the liberal media desperately tries to "convert" Trump supporters. They need to realize that at this point they are immune to facts, the are unwilling to accept facts. At this point from their perspective it cannot be true what is not supposed to be true. They wont even listen. So don't waste your time and energy to convince them. There will be a time, the time when certain issues will affect those Trump supporters personally or when the truth is just to bold to be ignored, they will come around eventually. News it not entertainment. Don't present it as such. Media shall not lower itself just because large parts of the population is no longer capable or interested in understanding news. They are a lost cause. Make quality reporting for those who appreciate it. Know your target group. Much of this has to do with marketing. There is a simple rule. If you try to reach all people, your message get lost. If you try to reach a certain group of people, your message gets heard. We may not like this situation because this is not about selling shoes or toothpaste. It is about important things and those should be heard by everyone. But times have changed, rules have changed. Therefore the media needs to adapt to those changes in the process. Time is on the side of those who tell the truth. It's the only way to prevail.

    Thank you!

Trump wants to be seen as David to the mainstream media's Goliath. The more they pound on him, the more he will get the sympathy of his supporters. He's playing the media. If only they would just stop covering every little thing he does for a while and do some deep investigative journalism on the down low without all the speculations... THEN report it when there's actual proof (which we all can safely assume exists); this way he may loose some of his current power.

The media feeds his power among his base constituents every time they cover him negatively, it feeds into his narrative of fighting the "big bad" media.

They must cover him, of course. But they should dial it down a bit.

The way they covered him throughout the campaign lost them a lot of credibility with the public and now he can apparently get away with this.

    It's a brave new world.

If any of this is true then it goes to show that he is just a puppet, not to Russia, but to a certain Republican establishment that rules from the shadows. Once again, if true, they are using him to get their agenda through and then Trump will have his "et tu Brute?" moment. If this is indeed real, once he is out, things will continue to go on as they planned if the Democrats keep focusing all of their energy and anger at the man himself instead of trying to find out who these people in the shadows actually are. If so, you all may have to prepare for a Mike Pence second term.

:lmao:After reading that I have all of these conspiracy theories going in my head.

Saudi Arabia would LOVE for the US to pick a fight with Iran. Let's see what happens.

I actually feel bad for Donald. It's not like he can just say I don't want to do this anymore. And now his family will be hated for generations. Talk about "be careful of what you wish for..."

Imagine the fall out if Obama had said this? Faux news and every other  right wing media  organization would lose their minds and call him anti American.

Sure Trump is right in this case but I don't think a sitting president should make such a statement.

Trump gets away with saying and doing stuff no other president could. It's unbelievable.

It's also amazing how he refuses to utter a bad word about Russia/Putin. That's why he even made that comment in the first place in order to deflect. He's afraid to say anything that could piss Putin off.

Obama would have been crucified if he said that.

Wow i've been through pages and pages of people "yelling" at each others. We need to find common ground here. There's so much anger all around the world, what is happening in the US is happening everywhere. The left is imploding so is the right.

We are in the aftermath of the 2008 economic crisis, subprimes and finance are the enemy, not each others, we are all suffering from the very few who made tons of money by sending the world into an economic crisis AND they made money out of it as well. Politicians are just puppets, we point at each other's differences of colours, sexual orientations, political views, religions...this is just distracting us from the real enemy. And Trump plays this game even more than the ones who preceded him (who are no saints either regarding their ties to the world of finance). While we fight each others, they count their money. If we could all direct our anger towards our common enemy instead f each thers we wuld stand a fighting chance. The future is not looking bright, can we agree on this ?

I said this once and i'm saying it again, we are just sharing opinions here, no one is sharing the truth, it's our truth. We will never totally agree on anything but we can share our opinions without trying to win sme sort of argument, it's not a competition, there's nothing to win here.

If any of us knew the truth he or she would not have his/her place here on a Madonna forum but in an administration.

We're just having a discussion on a Madonna forum. It's not about any of us.

I like to read this forum, especially points of view that are different than mine, from people in other geopolitical positions than me, it gives me perspective but lately it's not a discussion, it's not about sharing rather about winning some argument. It's hard to read through that because any valid point or idea gets lost in the anger or ego of the poster.

It makes what started as a discussion a huge sterile mess.

    This.

  6. Alright, the Trumpster has finally done something that no other Republican would have done. I didn't waste time complaining about the pipelines, the funding for abortion, the Obamacare stuff, and all of the other things that ANY Republican president would have signed into action because it would have happened regardless of the person.

However, here is where the Trumpster will find his undoing. You see, he just shot himself and the whole Republican party (if they support him on this) on the foot. NO ONE in their right mind can with good conscience back this across-the-board ban on these 7 countries.

Is it surprising? Not really. But now he will lose many who were trying to be impartial because he's crossed a line none of his rivals would have crossed. The damage he has inflicted to the Republican party (if the party does not stand up against this policy) will be felt for generations. In the end, I still believe that our institutions are still strong enough to block this from taking full effect as many courts around the country have already demonstrated.

Here's the silver lining though. His economy-based voters that do not support religious bigotry will start to abandon him. You see, all the people that were lumping all Trump voters as so-called "deplorables" can with more accuracy state that anyone supporting him when it comes to this particular executive order is likely a bigot or grossly misinformed. With this order Trump has narrowed his support base. Fiscal conservatives with moderate to progressive social stances will distance themselves from him. He's cornered himself.

Will he be impeached soon? Probably not. But he's making himself more and more isolated and eventually the winds will turn... and he'll have no one to turn to.

Still, I have a clear conscience when it comes to not voting for him as I suspected he was capable of doing this kind of thing. And I continue to stand behind my criticism of the media in being a major factor behind this mess. Guess whose profits are up across the board? Yep, the networks are doing great.

But I won't waste time shaming whoever voted for him because I can understand why one would have done it. And I'm sure a lot of Obama's voters had buyers remorse too. However, as a Trump voter, you have a bigger chance of being heard than all of the Hillary supporters and those that chose to abstain from voting (or voted for a another candidate). So make your voice be heard. NOW is the time to do that. He has at least proven that he will listen to his base.

Obama may have done whatever OUTSIDE the US but Hillary lost because what's happening INSIDE the US.

    And what happens?

Globalisation is a scam.  We all (in developed countries)  are poorer than 20 years ago. The bridge between rich and poor is wider. People are very angry everywhere.  And those who promise to go back to those golden days are winning elections.

That's what is happening. And regular politicians simply don't see. They want everything to be like 2007 again but it's 2017 and people are fed up.

What is dangerous is that a all those opportunists like Trump or Pen or UKIP use immigrants or foreigners as scapegoats. Because it's far easier than really trying to change the system.

Are Mexicans the problem in USA?

Are immigrants the problem in UK?

Why blaming immigrants in France when the terrorists were French?

    There you are.

You're on to something. People are becoming populists because the system has failed them. The establishment better learn fast or it may be their demise.

  8. If I was a foreign leader at the moment I would be a bit scared. This guy's rhetoric must be sending shivers down their spine. He's selling himself as the Messiah of America. The biggest the promise the harder the fall if he doesn't deliver it. Crazy or not, the guy is fearless. Heaven help us all. He and us need it right now.

Trump has legitimised them. He has given them a voice.  If you can't see that... well  quite frankly it's your problem,  mnino.

Its not propaganda. Are you a right winger mnino? :abuse:

How can it be propaganda? Trump supporters going to his Inauguration Day were being racist to a group of Mexican students. How can that be dismissed as propaganda?

If you were one of those students would you have liked to be called all those names just because of your nationality or ethinicty? It's always ridiculous; it's always fake news; it's always hypocritical; it's always biased; it's always propaganda until you are the one being attacked, discriminated or simply ridiculed because of your race, sex and sexuality, faith, etc..

    Welcome to Trumps America.

I didn't say it's always ridiculous or always fake news. So I hope you're not implying that I said that.

The article stated that the Representative was not going to the inauguration because Trump had not nominated any Latinos but the headline was about him boycotting the inauguration because of this incident (when he clearly was not going to begin with). The reason I wasn't sure if it actually happened is because this is a British tabloid. It's like someone quoting Fox News over here. And I have not found this incident on any other news outlet so forgive me for not jumping into conclusions before having more facts.

Btw, I haven't critiqued anything from Fox News because I don't read or watch that network. If someone quoted it here and it was a narrative trying to portray a hidden agenda, I would have said the same thing. But guess what? The democrats hardly have any bad press. There's no much there to defend. The media does a lot of that already.

Once again, critiquing the media is not equal to defending Trump and I was not contesting that Trump has emboldened these bad elements in our society, I'm not naive. I just believe that bigots will be bigots despite who's president.

Lastly, I do believe that the media has a lot of responsibility when it comes to how divided we are as a nation. The spectators of today don't have a chance to think or interpret the news because it's all a debate between two opposing views. The viewers then just pick whatever opinion is closer to their own and there's not much thought involved in the process. Most news nowadays are just that, two people disagreeing on TV about a certain matter. Do you have anything against that?

Like I said before, you can label me whatever you'd like.

Trump's America is the same as Obama's America six months ago, the media just chose a different narrative now. Your perception of America is what has changed because you've been told that. If you never watched the news and went on about your life in America, you'd probably think life is pretty close to what it used to be a year ago.

Alas, perception becomes reality, I suppose, so people will continue to watch the news and fear/hate the people that have different views than theirs.

Oh, I can see. I see a narrative that has been spoon fed to the masses to continue this fear-of-the-other-side story line that has successfully divided this nation.

P.S.: So if he had not legitimized them (which I'm not contesting), would they not have done it anyway?

Bigots like that (if this actually happened) have been living in Obama's America, Bush's American and Clinton's America. The press just didn't report every incident that happened in the past. Now, every time a racist comes out of the woods it becomes headline news with Trump attached to it. Bottom line, this politician wasn't going to the inauguration anyway so this just comes off as click-bait news. If the reporting was on the incident without mentioning Trump then I would have given it some validity. But in the end the article is not reporting an incident, it's trying to promote a narrative and that is NOT journalism, it's propaganda. Fox News has been doing that for years and now that the left decided to lower its standards too, the public is becoming more and more distrustful of the media. Trump has capitalized on it and see where it got him...

It was enough of a topic of discussion that Madonna was asked about it in 1990:

I think Donald Trump is campaigning to be president now, carrying on.
With Marla? But he cant be president if he's had sex. That's the rule.

No, no. It's all cyclical. He wants to be like Kennedy, and he has to prove that he's a womanizer.
It's not cool to be like Kennedy anymore. Look at Gary Hart.

No, Gary Hart just didn't have it. He didn't have that aura of power.
You mean Donald Trump is powerful? He's a wimp. Oh, don't print that. I want tickets to the next Tyson fight.

I do think it's all cyclical. You go through periods where the country wants a real solid family man, and then you go through periods where the country wants
    A guy with a dick?

A potentate. And then he probably gets assassinated.
Ow! But Donald Trump? Isn't there anyone else? Couldn't we get someone more handsome?

This journalist is onto something here. History may be repeating itself. Kennedy vines definitely.
