  1. Re "Secret", Shep kicked up a fuss because he claimed that Madonna had written the song based on an instrumental demo that he had presented her. Tony Shimkin had this to say about it all:

TS: No Shep was not involved [with BS] and I was no longer working with him. I know he had tried to write some stuff for that project and he claimed to have done some track that she had written Secret to. Knowing how she is, she probably always had that idea in her book, tried it over his track and when she didn't think it was working moved on...Shep took it personally and I think he tried making a stink about Secret because he was hurt, maybe he was credited to avoid any further problem

Shep was only ever given a courtesy credit for the song (he received no money for it, unless he negotiated a special deal to receive royalties from GHV2). He is not credited on "Celebration" and his name doesn't appear as a writer of the track anywhere else other than on Wikipedia. He was, however, given a 95% credit for a demo called "Something's Coming Over", as well as "Love Won't Wait" (which was a proper collaboration with Madonna, but she did a deal to give up 90% of her share as compensation for not using any of his tracks for "Bedtime Stories". She did the same with the following BS-era compositions - "Bring It", "Goodtime", "I Will Always Have You (Inside of Me)" and "Tongue Tied").

Interesting. I wish someone could leak all of Shep's demos for Bedtime...

  2. I love it! It's very well done, her voice sounds so pure and clear, the production is so... delicate. It's a weird way to describe the sound on the album but it's the only one that comes to my mind when I think about it.

It's quite sad that this magnificent record is overshadowed by ROLs sucess and ALs controversy/flop. The cowboy look remains as one of her more iconics tho

  3. I watched it last night... Really entertaining! I know it's not very accurate but if you forget it's about "Madonna Madonna" it's a good story. However, the fact that it's supposed to be M's story made it hilarious to watch at parts :chuckle:

I loved this: "I saw losing my virginity as a career move" Is that a real quote? Beacuse if it is then I was wrong when I thought I coudn't love this woman more :dead:

  4. My uncle was always a big fan, my mother and aunt like her too and they fully lived the M fever of the LAV era but he turned out as the biggest M fan in the family since the Erotica era. I remember as a child going to his house and he had this big M picture in his room:

He also had a VHS with bunch of her videos (the erotica one really intrigued me as it was... "not for kids" :chuckle: ) and a lot of cds, I liked the Immaculate collection one because of the pictures and I hated Music and the Live To Tell cofessions performance... Years later in 2010 when I was 13 I watched a Madonna special on VH1 with her 80s videos and wanted to see more, then I watched the S&S tour on tv and BAM! I was so amazed by her energy and the songs, since that moment I went CRAZY for her, I downloaded the double disc Celebration and listened on repeat all the time, I also borrowed my uncle's Celebration and Girlie Show dvds and watched them over and over for weeks. Then I started to download her studio albums (i'm still working on my physical collection). However I didn't have to money to see her live on 2012 so I'm already saving money for the next tour. I'm ready for you queen!

  5. I can listen to most of her albums w/out being bothered by a weird transition between songs, maybe because i got used to them, except for MDNA (which i musically really enjoy) so i changed the tracklisting in my digital version of the album like this:

    Girl Gone Wild

    Gang Bang

    I'm Addicted

    Some Girls

    I Don't Give A

    I Fucked Up

    Turn Up The Radio

    Beautiful Killer

    I'm A Sinner

    Love Spent

    Best Friend

    Falling Free

Most of it is the same as the original one that was first announced and then I took GMAYL, Superstar and Masterpiece and added BK, IFU and BS so it could flow better following a more "dark" pattern (exept for the TUTR-BK-IAS segment that is more "light"). And I know that TUTR after IFU could be weird, but it's like the end of the A-side and the beginning of the B-side for me :)

  6. Madonna - Borderline
    Erotica - Goodbye To Innocence
Bedtime Stories - Inside Of Me
Ray Of Light - Sky Fits Heaven or Substitute For Love
American Life - Intervention or X-Static Process
    Confessions... - Future Lovers
Hard Candy - Give It To Me or Incredible
MDNA - Gang Bang (Is there any other option for this one?)
