  1. Thanks to YouTube I can now demonstrate what I mean when they both appeared on Top Of The Pops for the first time. Cyndi was first, her look having been well thought out with an experienced stylist, and put on a performance that was so OTT it was off putting. Madonna came on, looking like she'd just stepped out of a New York gutter and put on an energetic yet understated performance that was COOLER THAN FUCK. I wanted MORE.

    Here are the clips:

Cyndi may have become more 'pretentiously arty' - the only option when continued lack of commercial success prevails. But Madonna is the TRUE ARTIST of the two and the TRUE STAR.

  2. Shitty & Stale without a doubt and I don't buy this crap about the 2009 leg being better. I hope she starts her next tour outside of the UK because I won't be rushing to buy tickets until I've seen some evidence of its brilliance.

As for DWT - the ABYSMAL DVD has ruined its legacy. The show itself was an ENTHRALLING live experience, mainly because I hadn't seen her for eight years and she was doing all the new songs from the interim period. That said, I wouldn't rate it that highly alongside some of the others but the DVD should not be used as the method of judging it.

  3. I've thought for some time that she's behind the leaking of these untouched photos. There's been a huge hu-ha about airbrushing in the media for ages now and let's face it, she's getting more kudos and respect than she's had from the press in ages over these photos. As the wedding pics prove, she'll sue the arse of anyone who dares invade her privacy so if there were someone leaking these, it would continue to happen after the first lot.

  4. I heard that Warners told Nile Rodgers to speed Madonna's vocals up on Like A Virgin so that she sounded more like Cyndi who was bigger at the time, mainly due to her having more money pumped into the campaign for her debut album. I remember them both appearing on TOTPs for the first time, Cyndi went OTT and generally tried too hard. Madonna took the stage, looking like she'd just walked off the lower-east side and gave an understated peformance that was as COOL AS FUCK. Cyndi's career was well on the wane within a few years of that whilst Madonna was going from strenght to strength. It's no wonder she's a bitter old cunt about it. Oh and the Like A Virgin album would have been much better without the speeding up of the vocals.

  5. :lmao:

It just gets betta and betta!

So can you list the posters you know Madonna would "give the time of day" to?

I'm sure in YOUR MIND you are one of the "privileged ones" that Madonna would love to "give the time of day to" and spend the afternoon with shopping, looking at boys and exchanging witty one liners with. Nothing wrong with fantasies.

Let's keep it real though.....it's no secret unless she's on stage Madonna would like her fans to fuck off for the most part.

    :rotfl:

  6. I don't think an album full of 'good' songs is enough for someone like Madonna.

She needs an album full of really great tracks. Sure, there were a couple of 'good' tracks on Confessions, but that felt like a cohesive album, it flowed beautifully... everything from the cover art to the song writing to the theme and the promotion smacked off time and effort.

And that's what let Hard Candy down. Her writing input appeared minimal, the crafting of the music was done before she even sat down in the studio, the lyrics to many of the songs quite banal. Not every track on Confessions was a work of beautiful prose, but at least it was her sound.

She worked at Stuart's house for months; she was with Orbit in the studio constantly for Ray of Light. Hard Candy was the sound of a woman out of ideas forced to fill a contractual obligation.

Like others have said, I'd be happy if she disappeared for a while, re-grouped, and got her fighting spirit back. Let Gaga have her moment in the sun; let Kylie rip off Confessions, let Britney make another album that sounds just like the last three ... then come back Madonna and show them how it's really done.

All this agreement on our part is making me :scared::nervous:

  7. I would agree with that. But those tracks, 4 Minutes and Give It 2 Me do not make a great album.

Hard Candy was a half arsed effort, it did not sound like Madonna had put much work into it, and now she has basically admitted it.

I'm not expecting every album to be a Like A Prayer, Ray of Light or Confessions. But I do expect more from her than just recording other people's demos.

I could live with an album not being to my taste if it was a passionate effort on her part. What I can't stand is the half arsed, 'let's stick a record out as I'm contractually obliged to' mediocrity. In some respects, her being without a record deal is a blessing as she can pursue her other endeavours and make an album when she's truly inspiredto.
