  1. I'm torn on this. On the one hand I like the idea of an album of singles (done right) but I'm also quite anal and a fan of a chronological order. Madonna's work, of course, stands on its own but, more than many, I think it shines in context and as part of her "story" and a linear timeline does that best. The evolution of the music and her story is part of the journey and a career spanning, definitive, singles collection, a biography rather than scrapbook. Because of Madonna's sometimes eclectic style it's especially difficult for a non-chronological collection to flow right without a song change jarring.

it's a yes and no for me

a sexually themed song following a slow ballad about loss and memories, then following another sexually themed song

when you put it all together, its not all gonna work nicely

the reason why i like GHv2 is that is starts with Deeper and Deeper, and ends with Music. The problem is everything in between.

  2. Actually, I agree. I guess that is what I was getting at first. The tracklist should be about songs that have had an important impact on her career as a musician. But it should represent what was most popular with fans and radio airplay. For instance, "Rain" didn't chart as high as some of the other bigger hits, but it got a lot of radio airplay and it had longevity. I remember they played the hell out of that song until "I'll Remember" came a long. "I'll Remember" got a lot of radio airplay as well. But of course, it charted better as well.

In any event, I don't think there will be a set list that will satisfy everyone, but I think the above would come close to representing Madonna's career.

But with a title like 'Celebration' for the album, it's possible she could include non-hits like "EveryBody", "Where's The Party" and other songs that fit the theme.

Nice to see that someone else agrees. Everybody is a must, it's her first single, and her first to chart on the Hot Dance/Club chart, which she is well known for dominating, since she is the dancing queen.

  3. Madonna: Get ready to 'Celebrate' with new single

    From Examiner.com

Madonna fans who turned against her once Madonna sold her sould by collaborating with Justin Timberlake and Timbaland may not want to turn in their fan cards just yet. The Queen of Pop is all set to release a new single within the next two weeks that is said to be the best things she's done in years according to those who have heard it.

The new single "Celebrate" is a different song than Madonna's 1983 hit "Holiday," but brings the same joy and fun of her very early hits our source has told us. It is produced with Paul Oakenfold, a man who has remixed many of Madonna's songs.

Meanwhile, there is also another Madonna songmaking the rounds called "It Hurts." It could very well be written about Guy Richie. Some of the reported lyrics include:

It hurts when you tell me lies

It hurts when you say goodbye

But I’ll never let you bring me down

You won’t get away with acting like a clown

It hurts when you laugh at my ways

It hurts when you sneak around and play

But you’ll be the one that pays the price

I’ll be the one who rolls the dice

This is said to be a power ballad and might have been recorded just before her divorce with Guy Richie. Though this column has recently criticized Madonna, we know she always does her best when something major in her personal life happens. She recorded the brialliant Like a Prayer right after her divorce with Sean Penn and the even more brilliant Ray of Light after the birth of her first daugher, Lourdes.

Three new songs will be included on Madonna's greatest hits album, which has been renamed from Iconography to Celebration. It is on target to be released in late September.

  4. There's been no rumor of a montage video- I just said that as an aside, sicne she's on tour and such, and it isa career-spanning album, whose first single is supposedly vintage Madonna. Would make sense. And, even if she did a video, it likely would be some nickle-and-dime production (a la LDLHA or "Jump"), so she may as well not even bother. Not that a nickle-and-dime production can't be memorable or iconic (think "Lucky Star," but the belly-button and bumping-and-grinding was fresh back then), but not nowadays.

There prob will be a montage video. I mean, We got the GHv2 video that was to promote the megamix that was never released or sent to radio (was it sent to radio?)

Plus, Warner shelved out money for 2 videos for Get Together, that used live footage from a promo tour. She was on tour at the time of the single, couldnt film a video, but Warner still made the effort to put out a video

(and just a little side note, i love the Get Together video that was released.)

  5. ha ha its erotica month every month for me

    same with me

ive been listening to erotica all last week

its in my top 3, which is constantly changing

it's definatly one of her greatest efforts, and her longest

i love every track, even Thief of Hearts

And Words, what a fantastic pop song. "I'm in love with your words, your words." Best part is the ending.

Sometimes i think why that track was not released as a single.

And ofcourse, the widely loved Andre Betts tracks. Even the underrated Where Life Begins is smooth, creamy, catchy, jazzy, and sexy. Certinatly not her greatest of all time, but one of her most uniquely different, with one hell of a cool instrumentation.

Erotica and Sex go together. Some of the stories in Sex can be heard throughout Erotica (Erotica, Rain, Waiting, Where Life Begins)

ive got more to say, but i wanna try to go to bed early for once (going to bed at 3-4 am has to stop, it's almost 1am here)
