  1. Taio Cruz is #1 so unless he stars to fall rapidly in the next two days, it's out of the question for Madonna this week. Just making sure there won't be any meltdowns next Sunday, that's all.

Could Madonna catch up though, given that:

    1. Celebration is charting not only at #13 but also at #70, 113 etc etc

    2. Celebration physical single sales would be added to the digital (on the same token, does Taio Cruz have a physical single?)

  2. I am very pleased that Human Nature did not make the list :) :) :) Also have always found Rain to be boring!

My top 5 songs she missed would be:

    1. American Life - I actually really do like this song a LOT. Very innovative and different.

    2. You Must Love Me

    3. Drowned World

    4. The Power of Goodbye

    5. Deeper and Deeper - a true classic.

  3. It was fucking awesome. Better than confessions, and better than Drowned World due to a couple of factors:

    1. She interacted more with the crowd

    2. The setlist was much more energetic than confessions, drowned world or reinvention - much fewer slow numbers. Like a Prayer was just fantastic. Other highlights for me Ray Of Light, Beat Goes On, Die Another Day, Give It To Me, Into The Groove and surprisingly, You Must Love Me.

And as always - excellent music, good choreography and great production values.

Lowlights - Hung Up needs to be less "hard rock" and more "disco". La Isla Bonita is getting old - she's performed it too much, in my opinion.

  4. I agree that it was terrible luck regarding the speakers, but I do think that people are blaming Madonna for the late start and the sound ("it's her show and she should have done a sound check" etc. etc. - she does a full sound check and rehearsal before every single show, but not everyone realises that). I don't even think it's Live Nation's fault - replacing a full bank of speakers that are blown out during the support act's performance just isn't possible.

    Horrible bad luck....

I am not even sure if it was the speakers' fault re: the late start. Everytime I have seen Madonna she starts about an hour late. I love her, but if she wants to keep her fans - she really should refund all the money for the date. Lord knows she has enough money. She can afford to lose 5 Million $. Losing the goodwill of 60,000 fans is much more damaging.

  5. ok let's admit it now. The song has a cute message but Madonna's delivery is rushed, it has zero charm (compared to her other songs with throw away lyrics) and the production is sloppy. It is like a kitchy combination of Steve Miller's Abracadabra and Rick James' Super Freak that Pharell forgot to bring up to date and just doesn't work. We, the hard core fans, love it because it is like Madonna saying she will never stop and she will keep going, blah blah blah, but to anybody else it sounds silly.

    Don't blame radio this time.

I don't blame radio - I blame her. She didn't do ANY promotion for this. She could have called in a few stations, done a few performances. It is HER album, after all.

  6. A tour is definitely not promotion for the album. People who pay that much to see her will most likely already have the album. A tour won't reach out to more fans...

I just don't understand why you'd spend time and effort creating a record you like, and then you can't be arsed to promote it.

  7. I swear, it's because her god =-awful video!!! Ick.

It cuz she doesn't bother to promote it. She is really shooting herself in the foot... Rather than a day of rehearsals she could do Today Show in AM, call in 6-7 radio stations in afternoon, goto MTV TRL in evening & do Letterman at night. Its hectic but in just a day she could do a buttload of stuff...

  8. She has to keep promoting her music, or she will become obsolete culturally. If she doesn't promote her singles with videos, radio-call ins, TV shows then radio won't play her. Simple as that.

With dwindling radio play, she will not reach out to younger people, a broader crowd and to more casual fans. Her fanbase will then just become older and older in age, which will make radio play her even less (as radio is already targeted towards the youngsters). Lack of radio play will result in Madonna becoming an "album artist" - someone who sells albums to only the hardcore fan base and nobody else. When that happens, expect each album to sell only about 300-400,000 in the US.

  9. HERE IS INFO FROM A MARIAH WEBSITE. It is interesting comparison how Mimi fans seem very gung ho about promoting her singles, whereas a lot of fans here don't even want to call their local radio station to request Madge's songs. Come on people - request! Otherwise, Madonna would likely become a kd lang/Barbara Streisand/Rolling Stones kind of act - decent album sales. No radio support and no released singles or videos.

  10. I dont understand whats wrong with the video. I really like it and theres not

much of a storyline to give a song such as GITM, is there?

Pharrell looks cool in the video too. Nice collaboration.

I agree - I like it. Its fun, just like the song.

Its certainly better than Mariah's craptacular videos.

  11. After 10 weeks at the Hot 100 (9 weeks in Top 10), 4 Minutes is now at #40 (Year To Date Chart)for 2008

Although Touch My Body was at the Top for 2 weeks, it stays in Top 10 for 8 weeks (#24 YTD)

Note: These positions are calculated by points....#1 = 100 points, #2 = 99 points, ..#100 = 1 point. (This is not the actual YTD positions. Just my effort to see where 4 Minutes stands

Cool - could you post the top 40 with points - would love to see it :)
