  1. Very interesting sales this week, Kris Allen missed the Top 10 ( I don't think that has ever happened to the debut album of any AI winner before) and Janet just made the Top 20.

Can't wait to see next weeks sales, should be very interesting too.

  2. Cher had the dreadful, "If I could turn back time" in the 80s, "Believe" in the 90s. Isn't she the artist with only four number ones, ironically, one a decade? Seems that nothing struck for her in the 00s.

If I Could Turn Back Time peaked at 3 in the USA.

  3. While I'm not a fan of "3" it is good to see someone who just two years ago was labelled as over having so much success.

When Britney first came out I thought she would be gone in six months but a decade later she has 5 #1 albums and 3 #1 singles to her name, not bad at all.

  4. the eagles album was a new release though.

Yes, but it was only avaliable at one retailer, Wal*Mart.

In the past if this was the case you were disqualified as they considered it unfair that one retailer have the monopoly on a new product.

In that week The Eagles sold over 700k while Britney did just shy of 300k so they changed the rules at the very last minute.

In this case Michael Jackson has the # 1 selling album but is denied that glory, however in the UK and other countries it's a different story.

  5. MJ's Number Ones is likely to top tomorrow's chart. It debuted at #1 back in November 2003, I think it's around 5x Platinum, it's a real hit album in the UK. Interestingly, "Man In The Mirror" is not on this CD (just the US edition) as it was replaced by "Human Nature".

So that's about 1.5 million right?

Interestingly, I think it sold about 1.7m in the US.

  6. It's funny that while ABBA Gold is #1 in the UK it is ineligible to be on the US Charts.

Kind of similar when Now Thats' What I Call Music is #1 in the US, the British versions are disqualifed in the UK and go on the Comptilations chart.
