It's just.... I'm stunned. I'm blown away.
A lot of you are going to question if certain albums are going to be booted from your top 3 favs. That's the conversation I think we're headed in. I cannot see a scenario where the vast majority of fans don't think this is a game changing album for her. If the critics don't follow suit, it's whatever at this point. Madonna took IMMENSE risks with this album and as far as I'm concerned, IT PAID OFF.

Ok last post and then I'm out of this place (it's not personal cuz I love everyone here, I just REALLY love Madonna and I really want to enjoy an album cycle on my own terms without anyone's opinions clouding my vibe).
Guys, remember 2015? From beginning to end, the absolute worst possible things happening. The whole album leaked, Living For Love was her first real bomb, she literally got yanked off stage by her neck at the Brits, she got publicly humiliated by the useless Drake, she released Bitch I'm Madonna (ok, maybe that is just a personal gripe), she performed with the dreadful Taylor Swift, and then she capped the year off by having a VERY PRIVATE family issue used against her in the press.
We survived that, we can survive ONE polarizing perf (imagine if this was like Wetten Daas or something, we'd all think it was terrific
)! Cmon guys, get it together!! More videos are coming, she's gonna bring the house down at NY pride, the album is probably gonna knock our sox off, and she's gonna go on a really unique tour doing things she's never done.
I hate seeing some of you guys so crestfallen. Just take a time out from the internet. I do it all the time. I feel much better when I do. AND MY GOD, PLEASE never read the comments!!! Comments are a cesspool for everyone. Look at the way ppl treat Katy Perry, or Hillary Clinton. There are other women who get dragged similarly. It's natural to focus on negativity, it's just human nature. Sometimes you just gotta get rid of the triggers.

Yeah the further I get from the performance time-wise and then revisit it, the better it gets.
I will say this though; she needs to stop releasing such commercial throwaway songs as singles. Medellín is brilliant so I’m not talking about that, but as much as I like Crave and Future , they’re obvious ploys to get commercial success and by now Madonna and co should know it’s not happening. She’d probably do better releasing experimental album tracks that showcase her versatility and good taste to be honest

Yikes. Some of those articles are really unprofessional (yes I can read Spanish). I mean, if that's how people are writing about this, it's just editorializing to me. They may as well be on Twitter.

I just watched parts of LAP and Future again.
Much better on second viewing. I really think this has more to do with me being from the USA and not being able to grasp the massiveness of this moment. Perfect example - I was (privately) SUPER SUPER critical of the Super Bowl performance (aside from Vogue) in the moments and days after it. You have no idea how nervous us Americans were for that perf. It was a huge deal and we had no clue what to expect. IT WAS SO SECRET. So when it happened I was like "OH." I didn't know quite what to think. With time, I recognized the brilliance of the entire thing. I think maybe Eurovision being so massive is kinda coloring the reactions for a lot of us here

If Madonna wanted to dance the cha-cha like she did in the Medellin video with Maluma, she woulda done it at Billboard.
If she wanted to do intricate choreo for Future she woulda done it.
Maybe she didn't like the way it looked, maybe she didn't want to take the risk, maybe maybe maybe. To ignore the fact that she's 61 and hold her up to standards from 10, 20, 30 years ago is unfair. I'll leave it at that.
The vocals I understand the gripes with though. Dunno what happened. But we have all heard worse from her lol (4 Minutes anyone)

It's interesting because we are the first ones to rabidly attack people who pile on Madonna for being 60, yet here in this very thread, we have people posting Madonna's 30 year old performances and comparing her to 2012, a year that by the end, had clearly exhausted Madonna physically. She had to take out an entire leg of her show (much to the chagrin of Australia) because it was fucking her up so much.
She's a human being and she's not Springsteen who can sit and strum a guitar for 2 hours. And once you hit 50, the aging process really does accelerate. Ask anyone including your own parents. She's doing incredible under the circumstances. Quit with these bizarre calls for her to perform like she did at 51, which even then was EYE POPPING for a woman her age. Ugh I will stop

This is a delicate subject and I KNOW I'll get piled on for this, but Madonna is 60, almost 61. 7 years is also 7 years for your body. She was slowing down even before this. Compare Rebel Heart and MDNA, you can see the change. It doesn't mean she's unhealthy or sick, she's just getting older. We need to cut her some slack on this. She even admits she doesn't work out like she used to. Stop comparing her to younger versions of herself.
